Wasn't there an F430 that ended up underwater in Texas? That's two sports cars that drove into water this year...

I don't think this is his fault. There was no clear indication of low flying pelicans. No sign nothing he might have a lawsuit here :p

I was thinking that there probably was a bird, one sitting in the passenger seat but leaning over towards the left....

yes pelicans do go crazy from the waves given off by cellphones. then they home in on the driver to pwn them. But I agree why do people do that? Driving, specially when driving a powerful car should be done carefully while paying attention to the road.

How considerate of the Tow Truck driver to rinse his hands off in the mud before touching the steering wheel. Quite a thoughtful guy.....

Why do people swerve at high rates of speed to avoid animals, I'll never understand.

obviously some people do care about animals instead of using them for targets - if you swerve you might save your car and your life (or not) if you don't swerve it might not be a pretty site for yourself or the animal - a 1800# angus on the road at night and a car speeding doesn't bode well for either party (it's happened several times se of Dallas) also, maybe if he wasn't talking on his cell phone he might have been more attentive to the bird situation (it's a no brainer on or near the coast)

at least the guy had a good attitude about it all...

deer, horse, or cow is something else. squirrels, rabbits, dogs, cats, and birds nail the crap out of them. not being insensitive, just the safest thing you can do for yourself and others around. especially with the type of cars we drive usually a controlled slow down is safe and enough time for the animal to get out of the way.

Veyron's weigh too much, you'd never see a strap snapping from towing an F50 :)

LA MARQUE, Texas – A man blamed a low-flying pelican and a dropped cell phone for his veering his million-dollar sports car off a road and into a salt marsh near Galveston. The accident happened about 3 p.m. Wednesday on the frontage road of Interstate 45 northbound in La Marque, about 35 miles southeast of Houston.
The Lufkin, Texas, man told of driving his luxury, French-built Bugatti Veyron when the bird distracted him, said La Marque police Lt. Greg Gilchrist. The motorist dropped his cell phone, reached to pick it up and veered off the road and into the salt marsh. The car was half-submerged in the brine about 20 feet from the road when police arrived.
Gilchrist said he doesn't know if the car was salvageable, but in his words, "Salt water isn't good for anything." He says the man, whose identity hasn't been released, was not injured.
A 2006 Bugatti Veyron was recently offered for sale in Jonesboro, Ark., for $1.25 million.
