Can you just talk to the kids during the trip? Or give them a book to read?

My sister and I would always bring a laptop to watch a movie in the backseat and my parents would let us plug it into the car stereo for sound. On one trip we watched Die Hard and the surround sound was amazing with the car stereo.

 

Ricky- It should be easy to have a couple of leather or cloth saddles made that will slip over the headrests and hold the tv set/sets without having to maim your seats. An easy hook-up from your power receptacle and you would be set. Earplugs or a dinky headset or two will keep you from having to listen to what they like. Hats with the earplugs sewn in would make it even easier.

Maybe you can sew in a drink bottle to the hat too (sort of like a beer hat!). Which reminds me...my 5yr old just got a camelback - and that is just a more respectable version of a beer hat !!

 

+1 Ipad's work great for the kids! Mine are 3 and 5 and love them!

 

You really want to have them hard mounted for safety.

I just play audio books. Of course, my kids are a bit older, but even younger kids can enjoy a good, well written story. Anything by PG Wodehouse, for instance.

 

Hell yea, put 'em back there. And play porn movies on both screens with no one in the backseat as you ride around town at night like all the thugs. (Italian porn only)

Ipad is the way to go. My friend gave one to his son who is 8 and is hyper and he is on that thing all the freaking time. Download a few movies before the trip and thats it.

 

You really don't want an ipad flying around the car during an accident.
