http://www.motortrend.com/future/spied_vehicles/112_0706_2010_lexus_lf_a Just wondering what Lexus is thinking . . .
Saw one of those at the Auto Show. Its not that bad looking but I'd still prefer a Ferrari over a Lexus. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Lexus was created by a marketing dept, Ferrari's are and always have been born out of a passion. Anyone who choses this car over a Ferrari was never an enthusiast to begin with
I would consider one if the car performed. Would I take it instead of a Ferrari? Depends on the Ferrari. I definately would not take it over a CS or a 430. I bet the service bills would be very reasonable.
+1 Don't ignore these guys, they will bite you in the a$$ when you are not looking. Remember this "Detroit"?
They will get a lot of first time exotic buyers by default. If they can't get on a waiting list for Ferrari ,they will have a choice of Lexus or Lambo now...
My wife had to take her Lexus in last Friday to have something looked at, and I was itching to take the 360 for a drive, so I drove it over there to pick her up. I parked outside and went in to find her. I decided to go out to take the sunroof off the 360 (beautiful day) and 2 salespeople came out and said "hey, you can't leave yet. You just got here!" Over the course of the 15 minutes I was there, at least 10 employees came out to see the car and give it a good look. Each was very excited about seeing it and seemed genuine in wishing me well with the car. It was a really nice experience. But I ain't sellin' the 360 to get the Lexus!
Looks like an SC400; numb styling meant to avoid offending female buyers. <start of rant> BTW, I will never go back to Toyota/Lexus. I had absolutely terrible service at Toyota's largest Dealer on the West Coast after verbally declining the alleged repair quote added while I was in for other servicing. Cost me an additional $600.00, the Dealership refused to return my calls, Regional Toyota through it back to the dealership and Toyota NA just recorded it in their phone log but nothing happened. I had also asked for all parts to be returned and received none. People complain about Ferrari Service, I'll never buy another Toyota because of their service dept and lack of system to resolve problems with a dealership.
probably not comparing apples to apples here. but if the japs wanted to compete with exotic performance cars, watch out. they can perfect anything that someone else builds first. my sc430 cannot compare to my 360, but it's an outstanding car & fun to drive, especially now that i took off those crappy runflat tires. lexus blows away benz & bmw.
i wouldn't be surprised if this opened up a whole can of worms.. but remember the NSX v. 348 back at the time? there were certainly more skeptics then than there might be now. of course, Ferrari then went on to develop the 355, 360, and the stellar 430... while honda didn't do much to improve on its design. that being said, regardless of which vehicle tends to be superior (from a driving, handling, or looks perspective), this should encourage Ferrari the other competitors to continue developing great cars.
Oh Please. Quite frankly - I don't think Lexus can compare to either. You can really feel the difference between a BMW and a Lexus. One feel like a mode of transportation and the other feel like something you want to drive. Japs?? maybe you should consider reffering to them in a different way.
First of all every Lexus I have ever driven has been a nice car but bland. No excitement, very sterile. This car may be different but I believe you have to have a topless version to really get in the game. There is no way I would by one unless it had more horsepower than an Enzo and cost significantly less than a 430.
The Pro skater Tony Hawk said that he was considering a 360 but decided to go with the SC430 instead. I saw this on an episode of Cribs several years ago.
not that i'll be able to afford either for at least 10 years (i'm 17) but i'd probably buy the lexus if it performed, and i'd be more likely to buy it if it were badged as a toyota. However I'd never get it over any modern ferrari. Like stated earlier ferrari's are for enthusiasts, not lexuses
Huh? I don't think an SC430 is any match for an E46 M3. I still find enjoyment in driving my 2001 M3 However I will say that if the Japanese auto makers focused in on building more high performance cars they probably could succeed in it.
i didn't come to the conclusion that lexus blows away benz & bmw by a dream or little voices in my head. i have owned a independent garage for over 27 years & owned GERMAN cars. i have seen what works & what does not work. i see what cars come in to my shop & what cars do not come in to my shop. i see what cars break & what cars do not break. you can feel the difference between the GERMAN cars & JAPANESE cars. my customers that leave my business with toyota & hondas have a sore rear end because there wallets are fatter. lexus a little sterile? sure they are. so are the GERMAN cars that i have owned, worked on, or driven. i'm on my second lexus & until the GERMANS can outdo the JAPANESE, its lexus for me. but this is ferrarichat & would i give up my lexus for my ferrari?, no way. it is by far the most fun car i have ever driven, i have had corvettes, panteras, vipers & if we are going to talk about blowing away, the ferrari certainly does. the performance, handling, feel, steering, braking, character & personality blows away anything else that i have driven. not to mention there damn sexy to look at. if i offended anyone with my jap phrase my apologies. it was not meant to offend.
I totally agree with you. I wasn't too into Lexus until I went and test drove BMW and Merc, and Lexus was way out of both of their leagues in terms of quality. We bought a GS350, and the car rides/drives second to none in its class IMO. I think Merc is WAY overrated and I think BMW is a good car, but still overrated. Just my opinion.
