Yes, this was original and matched perfectly. Same for the trunk carpet. When we restored the car we had very good samples of the original carpet to match from.

    Very nice picture .
The man leaning on the car is Renato Rascel, a very popular italian show man of that time.
Interesting too is the 642Rn2 Bartoletti opendeck truck in the background of the picture.

    Ciao
    Andrea

    Andrea,
due to your infos I could identify this car.

Its #101.680! The car was sold in Dec. 1959 to Renato Rascel (his real name was Renato Ranucci).

The car is today located in Norway.

    Ciao!
    Walter

Great picture, but i have some thoughts about the VIN.
The car has a fine mesh grille which you only find on a 1958 model.
It also has no quarther lights in the doors and side turning lights in the front wings.
Side turning lights in the front wings came late 1959.

They probebly forgot to fit the windscreen wipers...

Love this thread, some cracking pictures here Walter.
Forgive the ignorance, but in Andrea's first image above what is the Spider between the late bodied A6G 2000 and the 3500 GT? Is it a Zagato Spider?
The other noticeable thing (for me anyway) is the amazing number of white - or at least very pale coloured - 3500's in these images!!

No, its a Spyder with body made by FRUA on a 150S-racing chassis. Chassisnumber is #03.

The car was a dog and even Swiss journalist Hans Tanner, who always liked Maserati, was not impressed when he tested it (see pic).

The car was for some years in Germany in red color, was sold toSwitzerland where it underwet a complete resto.

    Ciao!

Is this the car with the exhaust pipes out the right side, sort of "Cobra" style? I.e. Slightly smaller right side door with the pipes headed to the the rear wheel then....maybe I'm drunk.

No I don't think so - I think you are referring to the Vignale bodied 150S perhaps?
I'm intrigued to know why the A6GCS with the Frua body was such a "dog" in Tanners opinion. Perhaps not for this thread, but I would have thought however you skin it, the A6GCS is a fabulous car.

You are wrong here - I mentioned "150S", a car with 4-cyl.-engine! The A6GCS was a different car with 6-cyl.-motor (and yes, was a great car!)!

The small 150S was quite OK for the circuit - but road usage in daily traffic was hoorible due to the very limited rev-band of the engine!
Also thecar became very hot inside!

    Ciao!

Sorry Walter that's my typing fingers getting ahead of my brain. I guess I know from my own experience that these revvy 4 cyl sports racers aren't exactly friendly, comfortable road cars.

The car in the middle with its front end to the camera is one of the Touring-prototypes on the 3500GT-chassis.

Nothing chance, unfortunately !! We can read the plate but then.....
Is a plate of paper and therefore we cannot do any type of research.
