Walter, the car is in the USA, I think it sold for about $50K USD. Corvette 6 speed gear box. By the way,...you are breaking your own rules for thread posting here!!! What is "old" or vintage about this photo?
HAH - as its "my" thread I am breaking the rules when needed ..:) Thanks for the info. I know thats the car is still located in the US. Ciao! Walter
No Sir,.....it is this one! George's car. ..now, back to you Walter!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Walter, I am interested in this car as I owned it in completely original condition from approx. 1976 until approx. 1986. I bought it from an engineer in So. Cal who inherited it from his father. He wanted to sell it because his son was coming of driving age. In the mid sixties, this fellow's father trailered a Cord to somewhere in TX to trade for the Maserati with a fellow from Mobile Alabama. The guy from Alabama made a tow bar that he used to tow the 3500 to TX for the trade ( a half way point I suppose). When I sold the car, I was told it would be restored. I was very disappointed years later to see the attempt to turn it into a vintage racer. That is one of several I really wish I still had. Bill LeMasters
Hey Bill, was this the white car with red interior? I remember the car well....the punch letter stickers under each switch to identify them? this was the car? Right? Really a sweet old car at the time... John
Hi John, Hope your time in Monterey was super. Yes, that was the car. Guess I should be glad for the time I had with the cars that I miss today. Especially since I still don't have all the cars I still have in running condition! Bill
...became reality! Not long ago, in a cold winternight with outside storm, snow and ice-rain, an enthusiastic little Maserati historian from Germany was surfin`the net. I came across an older dealer advertisement of a Maserati Ghibli. I contacted the owner of the dealership in NY and he told me that the car was sold since 7 months. The freezin`little historian from The Fatherland asked about other Maseratis and the chap mentioned some photos he took when he worked in the NYC-harbour as a young man. He sent me those photos as a gift and among those I found this two images. ...voilá Gentlemen...chassis #101.202 when just unloaded from a vessel in the Harbour of NYC, still with its Italian registration from Modena and the NY-dealer-plate mounted on both bumpers. I luuuve the www! With a little help from Bella Italia I could research the Italian registration which confirms the VIN. Happy was the little, freezin`historian from The Fatherland...:) © photo: Walter Bäumer Collection, 2011 Ciao! Walter Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
WOW! Fantastic story Herr Baumer. Thank you for sharing that with us. 101.202 has very unusual bumper guards. Also, it has a great view of the exhaust and rear muffler, you can clearly see the color of the exhaust is in metal finish, NOT painted. Also, the tires are Pirelli Stelvios, not Cinturatos. Here is a shot of the car before it sold in 2008? It did have the original engine and a 6 speed Corvette gearbox. I think it is in New England now. ??? Very cool Walter! ~Trev Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very nice pictures, thank you for sharing. I am surprised to see that these cars were really driven without side mirrors. "And now my friend, the first-a rule of Italian driving.... What's-a behind me is not important"
With the "help" of Italian PRA, we can know the serial number of the Maserati 3500 in the Chianciano's postcard. Serial number 101-1122. Exists today ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Caro Corrado, good catch! Unfortunately I have nothing about this car! Nada! No! Njet! Non! ない Nein! 沒 Ciao! Walter

The first Maserati at right had number MI 391762. The other near is MI 424602, and the Maser dark grey, near Ferrari 250 GT is VC 51328 or 51325. The Ferrari is Roma 338478 and is serial number 1059. Nice parking.
