I have a 82 308 gtbi, ordered a new Bosch pump and accumulator a couple months ago and putting everything back together. I also took it completely apart a few months ago as well. My question is the pipe coming out of the pump does it go to the outside or center fitting on the accumulator. Or does it matter, looked at several parts diagrams- not sure of location and I just can not remember which way it went. Thanks as always for any info.

And just a quick note on the new Ethanol fuels in your toys. If they are going to sit or are not used much add a Stabalizer to the fuel such as Starbrite StarTron Enzyme treatment.
The Ethanol when it sits causes fuel pump failures and injector failures. This is my second Ferrari pump to lock up. Also my Mercedes same thing. I have a motorcycle shop and we have problems with the pumps and injectors as well on the Harleys.

The figure in the Mondial8/MondialQV WSM indicates that the center fitting is the outlet:

(Although the only functional difference seems to be that there is a little "deflector" tab on the inlet fitting to deflect/slowdown the inrushing fuel stream.)

Thanks for the tip. I read a C&D article about ethanol causing problems for the older cars. As soon as I started using ethanol, I experienced starting problems in my 308, and now only put non-ethanol gasoline in my car (which is getting harder to find). I can't say ethanol was the entire problem, because I also needed to replace my fuel accumulator which totally solved the hot starting problem.

I looked at another pic in past posts on a QV model and it showed it on the outside as well. Now with the pic Steve has shown not sure which one to put it on. I would think if it made a difference it would have outlet and inlet marked on the accumulator, or at least seperate size fittings.

Just a guess from the accumulator picture, but the inlet appears to have a baffle to deflect the flowing gas and any particles away from the flexible material. This may allow the accumulator to last longer.

Thanks for the info, makes sense to me. I will put it back together as side inlet, center outlet.

Yes, you are right. It does. It leaks fuel when the baffle is torn.
