When I bought Brunos 512 previous day i drove for a fair time JMs current restered daytona loved it ok its heavy bit it was a big ballsy car and as Bill has always said nothing out torques one of those over 130mph.Boxer in my view is a great and challenging car to drive would think faster point to point and on a track to. We all know the daytona would be far easyto control at their limits. truck like? yea at about 20mph as you go through a round about.Their from different times 60s compared to the 70s.
At least they kept the green nose , were are its long list of wins in the 6and 12 hour races that were writtern on her side?
I have a photo of that but will post these two from a day at Amaroo in 82 I think, sad to say, without looking it up I can't remmeber what the second photo is Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
just found the photo of the 250LM in the pits at Amaroo with the list of wins on the side, you may have to blow it up to see it (may not translate well as it was a cheap camera at the time) Image Unavailable, Please Login
dear moderators. whould you please go back and delete the above ridiculous, off topic and offensive post as soon as possible. obviously the guy's an **** with double standards and an axe to grind. There are also numerous references to drugs and the selling of same. I don't know how that can be deemed apt for such a serious thread, and apart from that, what sort of example would it be to our young and impressionable readers?
first Caversham 6hour,first Surfers Paradise 12hour 66,67 and 68.drivers included S Martin,Mckay,J stewart,Bill Brown and Leo and Pete Geoghegan, gee in another life a few of the above would walk into any V8 super team reference John Blanden.
I have the story in a SCW , will take some time to find it I remember he crashed it in an historical race at Sandown I think and then decided to do a full resto
That was a bad weekend for our heros. Ford dealer falcons blew up, A. Hamilton crashed the Lola t430, the late Gary Cooper crashed an Elfin mr8/ theirs a good f5000 Minogue has a feel good about them and I think KB crashed the Brabham f1 come f5000. Got photos somewere of Hamiltons silver rsr paris show car all I can remember was the green and black tarten interier and green carpets, great car.
SCW April 1976 has a write up but nothing about the green stripe Did they only do it for one race or for it's entire racing career ?
found the article on the rebuild in SCW 1980, if anyone is interested I'll scan it. No mention of the green stripe and everytime I ever saw it (Surfers 12 hour race once) I never noticed the green nose but then I'm not known for my eye for fetail
Great book and still in print is David Mckays Scuderia Veloce The Autobiography. Cover has car with green band and on page 129 coming of the bridge at Longford must be a team colour as his Brabham climax bt11 has the same.A great book good story on him racing a 250pf.
Spot on also sprinted hard by Vince Smart, now owned by QLD collector whom has one of the monaro 427s.
