Sadly, he was an alcoholic, which killed him at an early age.

It would be best if you at least continued to drink water.

And the occasional scotch. For sanity's sake.

not quite. Just look at what you would have paid for a development site in Melb or Sydney CBD in 1990, then compare to today. Minimum 20 times growth, plus you'd have rental income along the way.

Easy to get caught up in the current Ferrari hysteria, but the reality is that there are better investments. Buy a Ferrari because you love it, not to make money.

    Totally agree

Heart says - All of the 250 variants are beautiful to look at, and it is fantastic that the increase in price has enabled owners to make a tidy paper profit on their cherished possessions.

Head says - There are clearly more profitable ways of investing the bulk of your money. How

Heart says - I have always wanted one of those and I have the cash so I'll buy it.

BTW - I am currently alternating between heart and head thinking.

    The heart says vintage.......

    the head says modern.

Too often in my life, I'll followed my heart and suffered the consequences.

Regrets....many but I never dwell on them.

I prefer to keep making the same mistakes. Its my homage to ground hog day.

Well, true. I didn't realize that land value would have grown 20 times but I have seen you mention buying development sites in the CBD many times in the past.

Property is king, yes. I was more thinking along the lines of only one person owning it since 1990 and has made that amount of money.

It's a beautiful car in that colour and would be wonderful to have it sitting in the garage.

Stunning car. Does anyone really buy these cars for the investment purpose though? I mean, if they have $8 mil to spend on a car, I would hazard a guess they have much more in investments already!

    I bet some people do.

But I agree with you, if you have $8M to spend on a car then you are obviously big time and have plenty more money where that came from.

Was talking to a friend around 2 years ago and he told me to sell all my property and invest in classic Ferraris.

One of his clients sold around $5M worth of property in VIC to buy a some 60's and 70's Ferraris as they were going make him some "serious money" apparently.

I haven't asked how his client went, but I will next time I talk to him as some Ferrari prices have gone through the roof. I am not sure which models he bought.

He won't be better off long term, but in the short term sounds like he would have made some money. This guy was in his 60's also from memory.
