Whose car is this?? Two different time periods and cars but same owner......And how about the safety of those guard rails at the start line in the top photo. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And what location is this? The second photo should give it away. What meet was it? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And one of my early top fuel heroes.......Well before Jungle Jim and Jungle Pam. Who were they<<< Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Gonna guess on this one: Jim and Diane Dunn? George and Ruth Hoover? (doesn't look like them, so I don't this is them) Jim and Alison Lee? (same as Hoovers, doesn't look like them, so prolly no) It's got to be around 1963 - guessing that's a Dragmaster chassis...maybe it's a little later, given the length of the car, but at most it's 1965? Tough one for me...
I got it! Bobby and Ruth Langley - Scorpion AA/FD...the wings led me to the answer! It's a Garlits chassis, the pic is at Lions - 1965
Out of curiosity - anyone you know own a "cackle" car? Man, I would love to have a vintage dragster, even with "local" provenance...I see a bunch of guys my age are building backyard diggers with that old style (see Brian Fox's 'Zorba's Ghost') - awesome stuff!
Ya'll got two of the three. Bakersfield March Meet and Bobby and Ruth Langley. How about the other fueler? Raced for three decades. I will try to post another photo to see if I can shed some light on him......... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not many raced a fueler that long that I can think of. Chris Karamesines? (doesn't look like his cars) Don Garlits? (I know it's not him) Connie Kalitta? (Nope) Tommy Ivo? (No) Don Prudhomme? (switched to funnys - and that's not him anyway) This one is tough - any other hints? Must be a cackle car looking at the last photos...
Ah, he retired before my time...I was just getting "interest" in the sport at that point (I think I was 3)...
From left, Pat Minick (shoe), Al Farkonas (funds), and Austin Coil (engine man) campaigned the Chi-Town Hustler. CH Image Unavailable, Please Login
Coil still turning the wrenches today with John Force...gotta admire him. Color Me Gone - that's Roger Lindamood, although I remember the Cuda version with blue paint the most.
and note - that's the "full bodied" Charger...after an accident attributed to the body's width, the later Chargers were smaller - hence the name "Mini-Charger".
