I understand that it almost actually happened, with Truesports running the program and Bobby Rahal driving.
It's interesting that both the B3 and T2 went through a lot of changes during their racing careers, not to mention the many variations seen in this thread. So it's remarkable that the car in between, the T, went through its entire racing career visually unchanged!
I don't believe they ever raced this configuration, but a pic of Amon in the 312, during a short lived period of high wings in F1. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah, everyone was going biplane crazy. The starting grids looked like von Richtofen's "flying circus"! Note that this car retains the 1968 nose flaps. I am so glad that this phase passed.
That's Johnny Dumfries driving what looks like a late iteration of the 1984 car. Cool pics and thread, BTW - thanks!
Love the 15" wheels of that year. So much cooler than the 13's we've had since then. Note designer Postlethwaite on right in second pic.
Great thread, and a good reminder that the present age does not have a monopoly on questionable design choices.
I've always been interested in the Prototype shark nose car that Ginther drove in Monaco 1960 and was later revised and tested at Monza. These pictures are I think after those versions but before the iconic dual nostrils were adopted to better penetrate the air. This version is actually pretty cool in it's own right and reminds me of the Eagle Beak Dan Gurney made famous 6 years later

Almost looks like it should have two eyes painted on top of the nose! And maybe some "teeth" inside the "mouth"?
I stumbled over this picture. Description was "naked 312" Image Unavailable, Please Login Gesendet von meinem C6603 mit Tapatalk
When I first saw a 312T in the Watkins Glen garage in 1975, it looked just like that, but I never imagined they would actually run it on the track like that!

I think that is Bruno Gaccomelli's helmet. Gacobazzi was one of his personal sponsors. - make Lambrusco wine in Modena.
