I remember reading a New York Times article a couple years back about a Ferrari mechanic located in the Northeast. I did not know much of anything about Ferrari's back then, but I thought the article was interesting. I don't remember the name of the mechanic, but recall that he had a very long wait list, and some funny anecdotes about turning away cars that were not interesting enough.
Anyway, I have been wondering for a while - is he a member of this board? It was a pretty long article, and with the encyclopedic knowledge here of everything Ferrari, I assume somebody still remembers it.

    Any ideas?

The print article had at least one photograph. Too bad it didn't make it to the web version.

Ah, Mr. Sicard...I wonder what stories he has of working in the Chinetti garage during NART's heyday....I doubt you'll find anyone of Mr. Sicard's stature/profession here. But a former colleage/protege still is......

IIRC he owned a Texaco station in Greenwich in the early 80's and every weekend I was there, he'd have one exotic after another on the grounds. From a NART spyder to a Michelotti 365 Daytona Spyder, a 250LM, various 275's, and one really "interesting" car which started out as a Cadillac but was reborn in Chinetti's shop to look like a corpulent 365GTC.

I have not been lucky enough to meet Francois yet, but I had the pleasure of meeting his wife about two years ago. She had some great stories about vintage Ferrari rallies they have taken part in over the years.....If you visit Tom Yang's website you can also learn more about him.... It's another great "Ferrari" site to visit. http://www.tomyang.net/cars/ferrari.html
