Thanks to everyone who had a look at my Instagram and gave me likes! I posted these pictures of a then new Testarossa. The story behind these is from my student days. I used to cycle over to this Porsche and Ferrari dealer and take pictures of the cars, mostly 308s and Boxers. I got to know the dealer well enough to sell him a pic of a Porsche 911 I had taken. When I dropped by to hand over the framed print, the Testarossa had just arrived, so he got it out of the showroom for me to take a few snaps. I remember thinking how massively wide this car was, accentuated by the slats on the rear. Nowadays it looks pretty small against the modern cars. I never really made a note of the day I took these pics, however logic suggests the were taken late July 1985, just before the reg plate change to 'C' in August '85. This car must have been one of the last mono-mono cars from what I have read. I wonder who chose that plate? And where is the car now? As I think you have surmised, this particular car was first registered on 1 August 1985 and, I believe, supplied new by Lancaster's in Colchester. You haven't said where the pictures were taken. Does that tie up? EDIT: I just noticed it does indeed say Lancaster Colchester on the registration plate! It would have been one of the first dozen UK cars, so some way from being "one of the last mono-mono cars". The most recent information I have on it has it back in Essex.
Thank you JT! Yes the pictures were indeed taken at Lancaster’s in Colchester. Interesting to hear it’s one of the first, and good to know still in existence.
Great photos. I've sorted out the colour in Photoshop. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That red Porsche 928 has got Nick Lancaster's personal plate on it, 1NRL. Who was the salesman that your befriended ?
15917 was born with a black interior, not beige like on the photo. Must have been re-trimmed. Marcel Massini
On instagram (user beatchetta - Charlie C) I found this old photo (posted on December 28, 2021) of a 365 GTC RHD with JK69 (or maybe JK89) license plate. The wheels look a little too chrome. I have no other information about this car. However, this is the link to the instagram post: https://www.instagram.com/p/CYBrkhssTxv/ Greetings to all! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Still loving this thread! In 1998 I took pictures at the FOC-BRDC track day on July 22nd, which was just a few days prior to the Coys International Historic Festival, also at Silverstone. Many of the Ferrari Historic Challenge participants took advantage of this track day to prepare for the Festival. Does anyone also have pictures of this track day? I'll post some of mine. I'm trying to identify the F40 with the gold rims. Could it be s/n 80787 with reg. 60 KS? Hello everyone, I am trying to document some 275 GTBs and noticed this thread. I could find most of the answers exclude these two: since I don’t know how to combine and reply, I choose to repost them here: The black one was posted by @R33 on #890. BTW, it is 4 CPB or 4 GPB? The red one was posted by @Robert W on #303 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login And does anybody knows about this one with French number plate? I think it is 1992 Christie’s International Historic Festival at Silverstone, according to the photographer on Flickr, Dave Williams Image Unavailable, Please Login Thanks for all the help in advanced!
