So I'm looking through an Autoweek from 10/5/81 reading about the 400i and I look at the classifieds.......
    GROAN.......

    FAF in Georgia lists:
    '75 365GT/4 $39k
    '74 246 GTS $29k
    '65 275 GTB Short $36.5k
    64 250 Lusso $34.5k

    Thorobred in Virginia has:
    3 330's under $27k
    a 246 at $25.5k

and it just gets worse the more I read.

The moral to this story.............NEVER NEVER read old classifieds!

The ones you didn't buy and the ones you got rid of can haunt you!

What did Autoweek have to say about the 400i in 1981?

I remember reading in AW around that time someone selling a 1966-67 (?) 330GTC (?? - 330 for sure, GTC not sure about) - for around 8K 'but it needs a ring job'.

I am reading a Computer Shopper from 1994, 486-66, 540mb HD, 4 mb of ram (Upgrade to 8 mb for 'only' $160 more),
    no cd-rom, 15" tube, $2,200.

Shall we delve into Rolex ?

(I apologize for going slightly O-T here)

yesterday i perused a dupont registry from 11 years ago and i was a bit surprised at prices. TR prices have come down about 35K since then, but 328 and 308 are selling for 7-10K less. actually, you can still see 308/328s for the same money as 11 years ago. how's that for holding value!

Back in '88-'89, I had a Texas Instruments 99/4A... Any idea what they cost back then...?

I bought a 275 GTB/4 in '83; sold it in '85. Bought a 166MM in '85; sold it in '90. Have not been able to justify a Ferrari sense then (but it sure was fun). - GJ

PS. My dad sold is California Spyder for $6000 (I think it was around '68). The guy who bought it sold it a few years later for the same princely sum. I remember trying to talk him into a '64 GTO at Spencer Buick around '67 that was $12 or 13k. A friend did buy one there a couple years before for $12k (now with B Wang).

Gave it a pretty good review. They kept talking about the US price tag of $80,000 and getting it US legal.

If you want a copy PM me with your address and the next time I get near a copier I'll send one off to you.

No different then knowing the result of a sporting event and saying you should have put a million dollars on the winning team. Imagine if you had bought a bunch of commercial property in the real estate lull of the eighties, you could buy any Ferrari you want now. Hindsight is always 20/20.
