I use Ebay as a price guide for just about everything.

No online site for comics values that I know of other than Ebay. But, this is the best book for values.

    http://www.amazon.com/Official-Overstreet-Comic-Price-Guide/dp/0375722351/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1198760041&sr=1-1

Remember, no dealer is gonna give you anything like the Overstreet prices, he has to sell them to his buyers for that number.

Also, any good comic book store will appraise your collection for a fee if you want to know for insurance purposes. They'll also buy complete collections, again, at a fraction of the Overstreet price guide.

You might be able to get an estimate of value by making a list of your books, by title, chronologically, and send that to a dealer, still should be a fee associated with that service.

Most record dealers buy in bulk at close to salvage rates, or treat the majority of collections as throw-away; records of value are usually cherry picked and generally fall into a handful of categories: 78 market, which is very specialized and about which I know nothing; audiophile 33- vintage and includes classical releases, pre-DynaGroove from RCA, Mercury Living Presence, Decca/London and EMI, as well as more obscure labels, like Everest, Lyrita, etc. Some of these can fetch serious dollars. Also of value are vintage novelty, jazz and pop records, including odd or limited releases, etc. Vintage would probably be no later than early 70's and mostly 60's and late 50's releases. Later pop records, jazz, classical generally not as valuable except for certain special editions, licensed audiophile releases like Mobile Fidelity, and certain Japanese pressings.
I bought a collection a few years ago and paid over a dollar a record on average which was probably overpaying by twice the value, but the collection had sentimental value to me and included a considerable number of the above described. Generally, look for a local collector or check in with a serious hi-fi shop that specializes in vinyl playback; they will have customers who might be interested and willing to inspect/purchase. Condition is key and collectors will demand unmarked sleeves, etc. Audiophile buyers usually more interested in the condition of the vinyl itself. Much of this turns on how the records were played back and stored during their lifetime.
