    Again...Berlin and London and much of Europe was still in ruins. See Carol Reed's amazing movie "The Third Man" to get an idea of what peace looked like. Amazing not just that the "neutral" Swiss watch industry was already pumping out product, but that there was a market for it. Today just three big holding companies control most of the mechanical watch making. Back in 1948, all these watch brands were individual companies.
