Quickie: There is a fellow in town that has a 4 door car with M3 on the deck lid, maybe early to mid 90's; did they make a 4 door M3?
The 4-door M3's were made between 97-99 and came in the E36 bodystyle.. The decklid was a dealer add on, and did not come available from the factory..
Yes they did. I had one. Loved it. When the POS wasn't in the shop with a check engine light, that is. 15 times. Car lasted 5 months, traded in on a Lexus... Sfumato's wife had one too.
Yes. In the USA the E36 M3 uses 240hp engine while in the Europe 286HP and later 320HP. That is why many people call the US M3 an M330i instead.
Fantastic cars. A friend has a '98 coupe. None of the problems that the Judge had, only regular maintenance. I think he's at 110,000 miles or so. Good luck finding one with low miles. The sedans are hard to find, although there are 3 for sale in the BMWCCA public classifieds. I had a silver 99 4 door M3, but i have to say the 1st gen 88-90 (in the US) are fun cars. I had a white 89 M3 and i loved that car, very raw and fun as hell to drive fast. vince
