After a year of I-95 traffic in Miami, I shipped the 550 to Aspen for the summer. Just had my first drive thru independence pass. Even tho I'm down about a hundred hp (8000 ft elev), the car is unbelievable!!! The sweet sound of the 12, the snick snick of the gear lever, powering out of every turn..the big brembos hauling the car down before each apex. I AM Schumi!!!

sounds like a good time, nothing beats some good mountain roads. I think the mountain driving is going to be the thing i miss most about NY when i move to FL.

To drive it around Aspen must be wonderful. There are lovely roads in the States; enjoy it!

Thankfully, we have beautiful mountains in Holland :(

I'll be driving mine over the Alps to Tuscany this summer - I can't wait. I'll definitely do the legendary Stelvio pass, it's going to be awesome to hear the Tubi exhaust reflect of the walls and in the tunnels!

What I like about driving my 550 in the mountains is the Maranello does not understand it is in the mountains. What I mean is going up is nothing at 7,000 feet. Compared to other things I have driven in the mountains, it still accelerates at an acceptable rate.

bart, thats true, but I do feel a definite difference. At sea level, the pirellis break loose in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, I can't get a good hook up in first at launch. At 8000 feet, I get traction in every gear. Also, she seems to starve for air at 7000- 7400, where at sea level she pulls straight to the rev limiter.
