Found this little guy lying in the bin under the center console bridge after I got home from a 3-hour drive.

It was so sunny that day I left my roof up the whole time - never did that before. That also meant the little guy probably came off on a previous occasion, but how though? The label is not a moving part.

When I examined it, I discovered both of the tiny plastic clips were completely bent over. Toast. I looked online for a replacement but apparently, I have to buy the whole switch cover, with the "OPEN" label and all, ~USD 85 or GBP 40, depending on where you order the part.

I'm just going to glue it back on but it's weird to have it come off on its own and find both clips broken. Was it broken when originally installed? Anyway, keep an eye on this sort of thing - I hope nothing else falls out next.

Brittle plastic probably. Used to happen to me all the time on my classic Vette. However, I somewhat expected it on a 40+ year old car.

In this case with a non-moving part, just plastic epoxy / or glue and hope for the best.

Wow, I thought I had the bad luck exception. The frequency of "suicided" labels is surprising as these things shouldn't be under any stress.

BTW, while I do prefer the aluminium trim of my car, Federal Man's CF bridge does look "smashing" over the black leather. Hope the J.B. Weld does the trick!
