599 GTO and some wide open, scenic country roads, add in no traffic, no law enforcement and a lovely lunch with fellow Ferrari enthusiasts and it becomes a special day.

Oh, also add in sunny mid winter weather, not a cloud to be seen.

Lets just say it was possible to pull 7500 rpm in 4th gear and at one point there
'may" have been 165 mph on the speedometer, its funny these things one can never remember, or perhaps it was the speed limit. My memory isn't too good with this sort of detail. ;)

The sound and fury of the V12 is quite shocking, over the past few weeks have spent a lot of time in the 458 speciale which parks alongside the GTO and that car incredible as it is, does not have the sheer fury of the V12, the engine dominated proceedings.

There is seemingly endless amounts of power and what traffic that was encountered, most of it pulled over, the rest was dispatched in a wall of sound and power.

To be able to enjoy a GTO in this environment is indeed a privilege and again reinforces the astonishing experience a GTO offers.

    Pictures to follow.

Nice pics. That GTO wail is just incredible and seems to go on forever. Not sure what I like better - the monster pull in each gear through redline or that rapid-fire XX style extreme downshifting with massive crackles and popping sounds. You know your driving something very special when the guy driving the new Mac 650 Spyder with his kid riding shotgun pulls out his cel. phone at a stop light to take a pic of YOUR car. Yes it really IS a G T O !
