Diagnostic Ferrari Masserati SD2 | eBay
Will, I think it's only fair to mention that the seller isn't communicating with a number of us that have expressed interest in this item. Too, it's a poorly worded ad, and the English usage would suggest it's not his 1st language. Odd for a "Landscape Architect" from New Hampshire? I smell a scam, so caveat emptor......
Yeh, I Agree. Sent him some questions, didn't hear back either. I didn't twig on it until you mentioned it, and I've seen a few eBay scams over the years. Guess I wanted it to be true too much. He's probably got a few garden bridges for sale too.... Ah well.
I got burned by someone on eBay selling a SD2. When the price is too good to be true it probabily is. Seller responded to questionsn but once I paid for item the fishy business started. Lost my address, sent to wrong address, incorrect tracking number etc... Never received the item and had to fight ebay to get my money back. Took a couple of months but eBay got the seller to refund money back into account. Not fun.Be careful. I have bought many items through eBay and have had surprisingily good luck.
1. Several of us asked the Seller questions - however there was no reply to anyone AFAIK? 2. The ad was poorly worded, contained many spelling errors, and it seemed like English wasn't the Seller's 1st language. Strange for a "Landscape Architect" from New Hampshire? 3. Seller had been on eBay since 1998, but there hadn't been any activity in his account for more than a year. eBay wouldn't divulge exactly how long, but it was quite a bit more than a year. I contacted eBay Customer Service with the above, and they agreed there was cause for concern. I agree with you that $6100 was a fair price; I just hope the buyer actually receives the goods after he pays for them, and that it works.
Well, its been nearily a year to the day when I got scammed. I paid around $6500.00 for it but never received anything. The SD2 was an odd item compared to everything else the seller was used to selling. The seller was janesfleamarket and was out of Oklahoma and hasn't sold anything with that account since. As far as the most recent SD2 seller, he hasn't sold anything in nearily a year. His description doesn't sound like he works on Ferraris'. SD2's don't grow on trees. Smells fishy. I may be wrong?
If he was for real he could have contacted several Ferrari shops, dealers included and walked away with a check on the spot. He would have had them bidding against each other. The key is there he would have had to have an actual unit in his hand and we would have tested it. The cords in that photo, the ones we use a lot, the ones that get walked on, tripped over and rebuilt rebuilt every 6 months look like they just came out of the package. I'd be interested if that same photo is somewhere on the internet or from a prior ebay ad. It looks like so many when they were new. Someone either just got a killer deal or they are out 6 large.
...and even if the unit was received as shown, it might not work for several reasons. How did something that desirable get into a LandscapeArchitect's hands? Is it stolen? Hopefully not. The software could be 'timed out' and the unit won't work. The software might be missing--or long out of date. The hardware could be kaput. It could be that the unit is good and Buyer has a contact that will help him get it running/update the software. But that's a lot to take on faith for 6100 clams.
Software does not time out on them but there was a Challenge version that as I understand has all functions not applicable to 360 Challenge blocked.
Heard that from someone, forget who. That's one reason for being careful about buying one removed. Good to know, thanks.
