In a few weeks, I will be officially part of the brotherhood as an owner of a mint '91 348tb rossa corsa/crema/red carpets. I've included a teaser pic below but will holdback on more pics until the car is officially mine. Car is completely stock with 16k miles and thorough service records, inc. a recent service. Belts were done 6 months ago at the nearby dealer.

I've compiled a shopping list with the usual list of interior (chrome knob, etc.), exterior (wheel spacers, etc.), and misc (window module accelerator, etc.) upgrades - thanks to y'all on fchat and No Doubt's excellent site.

I've got a 3hr hwy drive ahead and want to protect the foglamps and headlamps with xpel covering. Could someone please provide me with the dimensions of the foglamps? They don't have it precut for the 348 so I will have to order bulk sheets. As for the headlamps, they do have it precut for the F355. Are the 348 headlamps the same (I assume so but just want to double-check)?

    Other questions:
    1. Wheel spacers - the standard 25mm spacing is available for Type 2 Fixing. However, it would make me feel more comfortable if I was torqueing the wheel bolts directly to the hub, instead of the spacer. What is the bolt length that I would need to order to find the Type 1 set-up? Is 25 mm available? Ricambi only lists 22mm but Hill has 25mm listed,
    2. Do I need wheel spacers if I have F355 wheels mounted? IIRC there was a posting remarking that the wider wheelbase for late 348s and F355s are incorporated in the wheels, and not the hubs
    3. Shift knob - I'm leaning towards chrome. Does the reflection bother you? Otherwise, I could go for anodized. Which size is preferred? 47mm or 50mm?
    4. Cavallino emblem - Ricambi sites says 3" for front. What is the size of the rear emblem (to replace the black emblem)?
    5. Steering wheel spacer - Do you recommend this? I'm 6' 1" so would it make my driving more comfortable?
    6. Is a towing eye supplied with the original toolkit, or do I need to order one from Hill/Ricambi?
    7. Should I get the wider heel-toe gas pedal, or the regular one? I prefer the look of the regular set and IIRC from my test drive, the pedals are close enough for heel-toe as it is.

    TIA...

Yeah, the headlights are the same.

Well I wouldn't put on spacer with the 355 wheels. The stock rear 348 rims are 9" wide, and the 355 rears are 10"wide. So I don't see the need for the spacers if you are gonna run the 355 rims. Plus the 355 rims already have the wider offset in the rear.

Dunno I still have the old black one on mine.

Just take the old one and get it chromed.

I don't have one on my car and I'm 6'.

It should be in the kit. I would have a look inside to make sure you have it.

Is joining the 348 brotherhood a bigger commitment than joining the priesthood? ;)

I'm probably in a colder climate than you, but I found the high thermal conductivity of a metal shift knob to be unpleasant (and this can be trouble in a hot climate too) -- just a data point (I like the way the larger metal knobs look too)...

Why not try it? I'm a little taller than you, and I find it much better -- mostly because it allows the steering wheel to be angled further down (which brings the top of the rim closer to your shoulder plane by more than just the length of the spacer). If for some reason you didn't like it, I think you'd have an easy resale. JMO.

    Hello future 348 Brother!

You'll need 2 sheets of 11 inch by 5 inch of xpel covering for your fog lights (or just cover them with duct tape until you can buy pre-cut sheets).

Ernie has long arms that hang down to his knees...for everyone else, get the 1 inch, 1.5 inch, or 2 inch steering wheel spacer. You'll thank me for this, and it's just six 3mm allan bolts to install or remove, so no big deal if I'm wrong.

I've got the anodized shift knob (50mm). Love it. My region has 1 really cold month (e.g. below freezing) and 1 really hot month (e.g. 100+ F) per year, so I see both extremes. The chrome shift knob gets colder in cold months and hotter in hot months than does the anodized.

Reflections from the knob in the windwshield are not a problem, though.

Do not get the wider heel-toe gas pedal...at least not at first. Foot space is quite limited already. Adequate. Uncramped. But limited.

Oh, the tow eye does come in the toolkit.

Yes, except for the thing about children.

I like both the chrome and the anodized shift knob. After a day in the sun it is a little hot, but if you just cover it with a rag when you park it is not a problem. And go with the 50mm or anything bigger than stock.
