By the car to drive that you enjoy to drive but not as investment. If you drive and like it then is for you.
Yes the CS will drop a lot but that is the wrong way to look at it. Afterall is a car

I can't figure out why anyone would want to spend $200K for just some carbon fiber and faux suade. You don't even get carpets or power seats. Oh sure, CS sounds "nice" (much like a little kitten purring on a spring day), but the brakes are so expensive and I'm sure the gas mileage isn't as good as a Honda. And the CS looks so old compared to today's modern cars. I doubt they will hold their value well. Almost as bad as that car from the late 80's - early 90's with the big rear wing and manual windows, the F40. I'm sure they're not worth much now either.

I was about to go "flame on" and decided to check your profile and saw the beautiful CS you have sitting in your driveway... nice sarcastic humor! You definitely got me.

The value of a CS still holds much better than any 360 coupe or spider.

Just back from a 60 mile drive in my CS. On public roads that´s a scary thing. You need a track to explore it´s soul =)

the car you are considering seems like a particularly good deal to me. it has a lot of nice "extras" such as the fire extinguisher (option price was about $600 as i recall), the battery charger (another expensive option around $600 i think), and the spare wheel kit (about $1200 i think). my only complaint is the dealer's comment about the "all-black alcantara interior --none of the dull red that turns pink!" this is pure salesman BS. the black/red alcantara interior is "classic" stradale combo particularly on the red stradale. and the red stitching is also a very nice touch (which this car does not have). you should use the "all black" alcantara and "black stitching" as bargaining chips in your favor. it's going to cost you several thousand dollars (or more) to get a good shop to special order the "red/black" alcantara from ferrari and completely rework your interior to make it a classic stradale. the "dull red" alcantara (and even the black alcantara...which is not actually black, but rather a very dark gray) are "special" colors that you can't even buy from the alcantara factory in italy. they made these colors specifically for ferrari and you have to order the material directly from ferrari...which is a ROYAL PAIN IN THE ***. i realize that in reality you may never go to the trouble (and cost) to change the interior, but IF you wanted the red/black interior it would be fairly expensive to have the work done.

but i have to admit that $196,000 is a VERY good price for this car. assuming the car was well taken care of (in all likelihood it was) it should be selling for well over $200K (maybe even $210K+). you should grab this car because the dealer doesn't seem to be aware of the true value of stradales nowadays ;)

"Very nice NON-TRACKED example of the popular Stradale. Only 4K miles, our shop completed its first major service with new timing belts just last fall, and it is in spectacular condition throughout. A very attractive mix of factory options include all-black alcantara interior--none of the dull red that turns pink! It also has an alcantara-upholstered headliner, custom-ordered embroidered horse on the headrests (in red) and factory radio installation. Brake calipers in Rosso Scuderia to match the car, spare wheel kit & battery charger plus fire extinguisher covered in matching alcantara complete the factory options. We have the original book packet, car cover & tools. Nose has been protected with 3M ClearBra since new; never smoked in, well cared-for."

tell the dealer that you'd also like all the original warning labels that came on the stradale :) it looks like this stradle is missing the "Launch Control" warning sticker on the center console.

I'm tracking my CS again this weekend. If you track it, be prepared for some extraordinary expenses. One track day can use up more than half of those $2000 tires, and a set of brake pads cost $4000.

Those corsas seem to overheat rather fast =/ Pads holds very well compared to standard brakes. I´m tracking mine this weekend as well together with another 150 ferraris =) I´ll try to get some pictures taken.

LOL @ the CS. I spoke with the head engineer at Ferrari last week and they have a running joke in the company about how they put less stuff in the car and get more money for it. They sit around on Friday nights smoking weed and have hearty laughs about their brilliant marketing scheme. It actually started as a bet between two of the guys that it's not what they put in a car but rather how it is marketed. They have posted false times on boards and reports to make people think it's faster when the truth is, it is only faster by and infinite amount cos they saved money by not putting carpet and other stuff in it. This weight difference is about the same as if the driver was wearing a belt buckle or not. The CS is a joke of a car. It is a bit prettier than a 360 (which is about as ugly and boring as a Fairmont) because of the rocker panel flaring. It is not faster than a F430 or a 599. It just sounds louder and psychologically, hearing the sound and reading false reports over time, people actually believe it is more car and faster than a normal 360. Combine that with the fact that people (stupidly) paid more for it, there becomes a feeling of a faster/better car. Case/point, if the 'other' guy won the bet and the car sold for 30k less than a 360 (as it is really worth), then all you yahoo CS owners would be trying like hell to move UP to the real 360 and get extra stuff like carpets, door panels, radio and air conditioning.

In short, the CS (which actually stood for 'Cost Savings' until some kid bought one and made up a cooler acronym) is truly a poor man's 360..... a BASE MODEL car, with cloth seats and pick up truck flooring that has been marketed well and some monkeys fell for it.

The guy who sold me my 430 told me he had a series of ferrari's and the most recent prior car he had was a CS. He HATED it. He said it was undriveable (ride too harsh, etc.) and returned it 3 months after getting it (his family owns a Ferrari dealership so he gets any new F-car he wants). I never was much interested in CS after hearing that. This is the first negative post about CS I've actually read.
