I thought the original pilot owner-racer was associated with NASA but now I read he was a WWII RAF pilot. I saw a listing as X2 pilot (forgot my NASA history, what was the X2?)
And also he was a hydroplane racer. Are we talking the big 'uns like Miss Pepsi Cola?
Anyway I think the car, all aluminum body roadster, was sold 1.2 million in March '03 at Amelia Island . Has it been at auction since?

For those of you who haven't seen it yet, it will be at Monterey by the way, on display at PB as part of their tribute to the E-type.

It was originally delivered March '63 to Kjell Qvale;run at the '63 Sebring 12 hours (Leslie/Morill 7th);run in '63 at Laguna Seca (DNF); unearthed in 2000 after many years languishing in a California home. Does anyone know where Gidovlenko lived in LA, what suburb? I think it's amazing his family managed to hang onto it until it could be sold unrestored at auction (was it made running first?)

I also heard(Qvale was offered the car but turned it down not realising what it was; I wonder what the price was at the date he was offered it and what year that was? )

Any info appreciated--I know it was in Tom Cotter's book but I don't have the book (very interesting books by the way, Cotter was a PR man for many NASCAR teams, sold off his company and now just enjoys life...)
