My 458 was a great machine but it ended up being an A to A car more than an A to B car. This made me sad. I moved back to those quirky little German six bangers with the go go hung way out over the rear wheels. I'll call her Helga. I'll driver her everyday. I'll miss it here but I'm sure I'll be back again...someday. Cheers

Bummer. Well TTs you will lose $40k driving it off the lot, but it's a better daily if that's what you are looking for. Enjoy the P-car. It's a fast one.

Looks t-ts with black roof and rims. Love Carrara White. How hard is it to keep clean? Had a white BMW got dirty fairly easily compared to silver 350z, meteor grey Carrera S and Titanio Spider.

I've never thought of it that way before "A to A" (clever), but it's true.

You'll be back that's for sure... I'll leave a light on for you :)

I think he was saying his 458 was a great car to take out on a spirited drive and then back home (A back to A). Where other cars like the Porsche were better suited for when you actually need to go someplace like work, etc. (A to B).

I feel the same with my 458. It's an A to A car. Excessive attention so your safe-parking options are dramatically reduced compared to a 911 turbo.

Welcome to the club. An A to A car still sits in my garage, but the 911 is great for everyday A to B.

My new A to B car.

That is provided you don't need to carry anything with you when you get to "B" or bring anything back from B to A. :)

F cars can be awesome but they are not great daily drivers. It's just too much of a hassle.

Besides, they are best enjoyed when you really want to enjoy them. There's a reason why so many are garage queens or weekend warriors.

I sold my A to A car (2012 458 Italia). I miss my 458 but this car is just a blast and blends in more than a Ferrari… I will be back to a F car someday but not for awhile. At 38 years old this is a better second car and more usable car for me. I find I drive this car a lot more for errands and beer runs etc.. vs the Ferrari which was go out, comeback, scared to park anywhere which gets old. Here is my new A to B car, a 2015 GT3. I never drove the Ferrari in the rain, whereas this car I just don't care if its in the rain or not…. :D

It seems quite a few Ferrari owners recently went with 911s. I wonder if the release of the 991 version had a lot to do with it. I know I wasn't all that fond of the 997, but the improvements found in the 991 chassis (extending the wheelbase, making it closer to a mid-engine car, etc.), along with the rest of the improvements to the interior and other bits, not to mention how the car blends in better (to most people, including me, most all 911s look pretty much the same) are what tipped me.

911s are comfortable and reliable but they blend in with the hundreds of other 911s in town and the average layperson cant distinguish a gt3 rs from a base carrera let alone a cayman (Not that im obsessed with what others think). I guess for many posters here that's the advantage.

For myself, daily driving a c2s for over 4 years wasn't super special while everytime I drove my Cali and now my Spider it's an "event" which hasn't lost it's luster over the years. Parking my 911 everyday next to 10 other ones at work didn't help.

Secret to get over irrational fear of rain and rational but often exaggerated fear of parking, drive more often.

    P.S. close to Zinger's age

    YMMV

We are our own worst enemies. A guy has a 2 year old 458 with 5K miles and we say that's high mileage.

Why would anyone take a 458 on a cross country trip? You get back an it's lost at least 10 grand in resale value in 2 weeks.

It's another reason why 458's aren't good daily drivers -- ironically its because not enough people drive them much. Sort of a self fulling prophecy.
