Very interesting stats on Massa. He's second in most win in the last 20 years for Ferrari next to MS. He also has a nice win percentage of 17% which is higher than Gilles and most Ferrari drivers. His win percentage was also nearly identical to Kimi. Great site!
Thanks for the site! This is great data!!!! Check out this circuit from 1959: AUTOMOBIL-VERKEHRS UND ÜBUNGS-STRASSE (AVUS) This track will definitely spice up the lack of passing issue.
Man, 8.3KM?!?!?! That track is mental. I have spent probably 3 hours on this site today...as an F1 noob, this is a huge resource to gain historical perspective. ETA: Here is a great Wikipedia article on the afformentioned circuit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVUS
Speaking of Wikipedia, here is a quick list with visuals of Formula 1 circuits: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Formula_One_circuits
If you ever played the game Grand Prix Legends, you could upload Avus as an add-on. It was pretty cool, but really hard to get used to. One of the great things about that game was all the 3rd party upgrades.
I've actually never had the opportunity to play that game...is it still available (as freeware perhaps??) It sounds fantastic! I was just looking at a birds-eye view of the part of the Autobahn on which this track existed; it's an unbelievable setting in SW Berlin.
good find. thanks. This would make F1 exciting ;P "turned into a steeply banked turn (43°) made of bricks. It became dubbed the "Wall of Death," especially as it had no retaining barrier so cars that missed the turn easily flew off it." I'm glad the FIA strives for safety. Just think of what would've happened to Massa had he still worn a leather cap.
Glad y'all enjoy it. Happy to see I've finally contributed something meaningful to our F1 community beyond my race day beer thread. Cheers!
No kidding...for all the ribbing I give the FIA, this is the single most important achievement. 43 degrees of banked bricks? WOW!
To clarify by "beyond" I meant to the effect "come after chronologically"; I did not intend to imply that one was superior over the other. That said, I have drank a lot of "discount" beer in my day.
