Good morning gentlemen – hope everybody’s having a good week so far. With your help I got my 1988 window switches working but that has proved to be short-lived and despite cleaning them extensively electrical contact cleaner I cannot put my windows back up although the downward direction on the switch works perfectly fine of course.

Not be able to put the windows back up is interfering with my ability use the car and since we’re getting a prime driving season here in Southern California I really wanna get this taken care of.

My inclination is to simply get brand new switches and from previous discussions here I believe those are the same as 308 units?

thank you in advanced for any coaching that you could offer.

First off measure the volts you are getting at the motor terminals in both directions, it may be you are shy on volts. You can buy a window boost kit from Superperformance in uk for little money which might help.
Your fuse box might not be giving u enough volts

Look up Eurospares in the uk- get onto ferrari spares and select your exact model, this will give you all the drawings and parts list.
Your pt no 61047700 has been super seeded by 64880400 but showing as available to order.
If you put ferrari followed by pt no in google you will get a lot of info, like e bay used parts.
Look on superperformance site in uk , V8/ mondial/ your model - select electrical from side menu- shows all the window bits

Well...everyone I have contacted says they are out of the original and superseded part number.

I have to think Alfa or Fiat used similar switches so think I am going to pull one and run over to a local Alfa shop and see what ideas they have.

Short of that I may just wire up a work around since it is driving me BONKERS not to be using the car, especially since cooler weather in SoCal makes for great driving.

    Open for any/all creative ideas!

Hope everyone is have a good week so far.

With your battery fully charged, did you check the voltage at the motor (both directions) as suggested by Mike32 in post #2.
Due to the weight of the window glass (and gravity) it’s not uncommon for a poorly powered motor to still have enough power to lower the window, but to struggle when lifting.

Another common issue with the motors is a build up of old grease inside the gearing mechanism of the motor. As this grease hardens, the friction created impedes the free movement of the gear wheel. There are a few posts on this site that outline how to remove the motor, clean and re-grease the inner workings.
Same applies to each of the wheels/bushings over which the window cable travels. You’ll want to be sure all of those points move freely.
