Just want to know if there has to be a choice between getting one 360Modena F1 maybe a year old, and one each of the '86 6 speed F355 Berlinetta and an '83-'84 512TR, what would be your choice?

Choice A will give you one modern car to drive everyday. Choice B will give you one modern car, more or less, that can also be driven everyday plus one of the most beautiful V12 F-cars.

Oops, wrong years. The F355 should be 95-96 and the 512TR should be 93-94. What a mess!

Depends, do you have time to drive both? If so, then 355 and 512.

I say 355 daily and a 512 on weekends. Note the upkeep costs on both are...well...large.

The positive side of a 360 is that you can get a warrenty and keep upkeep down to only regular service...in the end will be much less then what it will be for a 512 and 355.

One thing that confuses me is, do you not have a sports car already? Almost everyone I know starts with something and moves to other things. Let's compare that to what you are looking to get into...I mean, one does not just decide to spend 150k on sports cars in one day...do they?

I'll ditto Auraraptor's questions... is this a rhetorical question?

If not... or if you're setting your long-term goals to set your sights on...

What do you want to do with your Ferraris?
Concorsos? Track days? Sunday drives in the countryside? Cross-country trips?

The answers to those questions will likely dictate the answer to yours.

The way you asked your question seems to me that you want to get the F355 and the 512 instead of the 360.
Personally I would get the F355 and the 512. I like the way the F355 looks and the 512 is just amazing periord. Becides, when the new 420 comes out, I beleve 360s will depreciate a bit.
Also two cars are better than one car, methinks.

Thats a tough question, Im no Ferrari owner, nor driver of any car so I cant say "well the 355 does this and the 360 does this". Although I love the 360, and it carries my only REAL good Ferrari expierience, I would go with the 355 and 512 because why have only 1 awsome looking, high performing, jaw dropping car when you could have 2? Thats how im lookin at it.

Paul K - I am seriously looking at the two, F355 and 512TR, because they are total to about the same price as it'll cost me to get a 360Modena. I've actually experienced all three of them, but am not sure about 512TR. It's the one I had the least experience with.

Brian - My goal was to have as many of the cars I love as possible. We do track days only once or twice a year here. Never a cross country. Mostly a Sunday drive. Will this be enough info for you to give me some ideas?

Auraraptor - Yes, I now have a 328GTB Koenig. It's for keep but not very suitable around town. Now I want a car I can drive whenever I like. I am currently selling my '02 Porsche 996 GT2.

Guys, my problem is that I love the 360M but if I get that I'll miss a chance to have one of the nicest 512TR available at the moment. If I get the 512TR, my chance to have a 360 is about gone. That will leave me with a 355 if I can find one in good shape. The one I had my eyes on was just sold lately.

This may sound crazy but I just can't decide. I love them all!!!!

go for the 512tr as it wont depreciate as much as the others and it is rarer

In that case, definitely do the 512TR and 355... that's twice the number of cars you love... it gives you a taste of both 8's and 12's... it gives you a Ferrari icon (512TR) and a more reliable modern Ferrari (355)... it gives you a unique car for the get-togethers (512TR) and a car for occasional track days (355). And the 355 is plenty good as a daily driver.

Go for the pair. In a few years, when the 360 depreciates a bit more, getting closer to the 355, you can likely save enough to trade up from 355 to 360 and still keep the 512TR.

You could always do a clean 348, a regular TR, and a new E320 in place of one 360! :)

Seriously, I would go with the majority here. The 355 and the 512TR are both exceptional cars. Let the 360s come down a little and then move up.

Thank you all very much for your comments and thought on this. I will test drive the 512TR this coming Saturday. It's metalic black with black interior. As for the F355, the one I had my eyes on was sold. There's another one now but not very nice. I'll just have to keep looking.

All of your comments sound very sensible. Thanks again.

Easy choice. 355 and 512TR. I have them both, and they both rock. I will admit to slightly preferring the 512TR. In fact, I'd even take a 512TR over a 360 Modena. Once you've had a 12, you'll never go back.

Unless you go turbo charged... that's a whole diff story :)

Since I don't particularly like the style of the 360, nor do I consider F1 an advantage, the choice is easy: F355. And if you need to spend more money for another car then the 512TR is OK.
