I have been driving a 2000 456 and about to get a 550. But at the same time, I am thinking of trading my 456 (and a future 550) for a 612. Should you have two (456 and 550), or just one 612? Any help is greatly appreciated.

612 IMO. You can only drive one car at a time why have two old GT cars when you could have one bad a$$ GT car. Now if you were talking a 550 and 430 or 612 I would say 550 and 430. Two different type cars.

    Once again just my opinion

I have a little girl, which explains 2+2. I do not like 355 or 360 much. I have a soft heart for V12 (used to have Testarossa). If I could have a choice, I'd love to have 612 and 550, but a bit excessive (not to me) but to my wife. My 456 is great, no problem at all so far. Two olders or one new? Two olders but great ones or one new great one? Wish one can be content with what he has!

From what i have heard the 612 is very nice but no match in terms of driving sensation compared to a Maranello. Go with a nice Maranello , you wont regret it.

Why would you own both a 456 and a 550? They are not all that different.

Personally, I would get the 612.

If you are used to the 456 and are looking for an additional sporting feel trust me the 612...is miles ahead of both! The 550 is a great and accomplished car...but the 612 gives you so much more and the 2+2 is a real plus in the everday world. You get more out of the car...besides...its faster, handles great...and looks incredible in the flesh. If you want to keep your 456 and get a second sports car...go for a 360.

After much decided, I will go for 612. Do you think it will be around 175K by Jan 2008?

Probably slightly higher, but if you look hard and compromise on a (relatively) high mileage 2005 model, you might be able to get one for $175,000 next month. In reality, plan on $190,000-$210,000.

612s with the manual box already have asking prices under $175K; given the current queasy state of the economy, I'd expect the F-1s to be in that range pretty soon.

The hunt is very close. Make the story short, almost got the two-tone 612 in San Diego, until learned -not directly from seller-but from autocheck that the car was involved in an acident. Found another one, not two-tone, has been used for demo and track days, but am told the car was perfect. In a few days, I will get more information. During the hunt for 612, I also made some inquiry for 550, the one in Alabama in particular, but no decision yet. If I get the 612, will sell the 456 directly to dealer. If I get 550, will keep 456. Still a very, very tough decision to make.

Here are my thoughts. I'm a collector. If you want to be a collector or start a collection. I'd go with the 2 cars. 456 & 550. If you just want to drive a GREAT car. Go with the 612. I have a 456 & 550. I don't see nothing wrong with owning both. Variety. Hmmmm, which car should i drive today... That's a good feeling.

I think from a value perspective, which may or may not be relevant, you'd be better off with fully or at least nearly fully depreciated cars of any number whose total collective price is close to a single new one. I tend to agree with those who say the performance etc.. is not that different between the 456 and 550. Why not trade the 456 on a 550--I assume a 20k to 40k boot is to be expected there--and buy something totally different for a two plus two, like a 365 gt4 or a 412 figure high 30s for a good example of either, that would let you have fun with your daugther and experience something different from your 550?
