I'm looking for hints on what to check next.

I have a 1984 Mondial (new to me) where the read bank(1-4) is not working as well as the front. Exhaust is noticeably weaker on that side. The car idles OK but stumbles a bit. Pulling coil wires has the front running very smoothly. The rear starts but has to be given gas to stay running - it also runs rough then, but a least it runs. I switched all the coil wires and had the same issue. Distributer caps were removed, corrosion cleaned and replaced. The sparkplug extenders only pass spark if I hold a screwdriver right at the rim and short them out - so I think that they are ok. With spark ok, that leaves me fuel.

As the front is running so well, I'm wondering what in the fuel side I should check - wouldn't a fuel issue affect both sides equally? I've seen threads about the O2 sensor but thought that there was only one.

The slow light doesn't come on, but it's either disconnected or burned out, as it doesn't display when the key is first turned either.
As the rear is firing somewhat, is it safe to run while testing?

Cam belts were replaced as part of the purchase - is there a way to confirm that the rear cam is set properly without major disassembly?

    Thanks.

    That's normal.

Have you checked the Digiplex for the foul bank? Could be the connectors need some cleaning.

I switched the relays in the right rear under the antenna (do they govern the digiplex?) - no change. I did find a disconnected plug - connected it and the 'slow engine' light came on. So, at least that works - not that I really wanted to see it light up.

Check the connection at the Digiplex itself. Clean the contacts and then coat the contact housings with silicone grease.

To make sure it's the connector, switch the Digiplex for the the good running bank to the poor one.If the poor one acts properly, you'll know you have poor connections or a bad Digiplex.

I've really searched threads - found pics of the digiplexes themselves, but not the location. Does anyone know whether they are on the drivers side firewall or in the trunk on an 84 US Mondial? I found threads that indicate both places. I've taken the side panels out of the trunk to no avail but am wondering whether I have to remove the whole trunk base? Or, do I have to remove the left rear wheel to get to the firewall area? I'll also be checking the TDC sensors, so will have to pull the wheel sometime soon, anyway.

Thanks - I should have mentioned in the initial post that I did check the rotors (based on another thread that I found) and also cleaned them when I cleaned the distributor caps. The length is correct. The rotor and cap were a little dirty - but not terrible. I didn't see any cracks or carbon trails and did get a spark at each plug wire on that bank.

OK - it'll be off to the wheel well - at least I won't tear up the trunk unnecessarily.
