I just recently bought my first Ferrari, a 1997 F355 GTS 6 speed. I found out after i bought and certainy my fault by not getting a good PPI, that the car has decent ( and common from what i've learned) engine issues..

After being LIED to by Ferrari of Atlanta about leakdown tests that were actually done and failed,.. and then getting quote a rediculous number by Miller Motors in Greenwich i found myself kinda bummed about what i had just done..

WELL AT THAT HAS CHANGED WITH MY EXPERIENCE WITH INDEPENDENT FERRARI SERVICE, in South Easton Mass. John Tirrell has been an absolute delight to work with.. Straight shooter, no BS, fair priced, and on time.

If ANYONE is looking for a NO nonsense ferrari service shop who does all machine work on site, has a race shop in house for fabrication, etc.. THERE IS NO NEED TO SHOP ELSEWHERE.

I have no interest in this company other tha the fact that i have renewed excitement that i'll be driving my new baby by the time the tuleps bloom as planned.

Thanks for Fchat members for informing me of him

A friend of mine with a 308 QV had been having continuing problems with his engine. It would spew oil out of the dip stick tube at high RPMs. He tried everything, had several supposedly top-notch mechanics look at the car, and none could see what would cause this to happen.

We were up at Watkins Glen, and my buddy had just come in from a run, with oil everywhere in his engine compartment. We were pitting right next to IFS's trailers. I believe it was John who came over and asked what was going on. We showed him, and he looked at the engine for about 30 seconds, and said "there's your problem, these two hoses are hooked up wrong." He went and got a screw driver, came back, switched the hoses around, and that solved the problem. No charge.

They are super-nice people, in my experience, and everyone I know who uses them has nothing but great things to say.

Congratulations from a fellow new 355 owner. Great to know that there is an option out there if that dreaded valve guide issue becomes a reality. Good luck with your car, it looks beautiful.

That is a beautiful F355 GTS. What do you mean FOA liesd to you? Did the car pass or fail the test you paid for? What exactly is the engine problem? I'm glad it is resolved now?
