Yesterday was truly incredible, there is no other way of putting it! For me as a Ferrari enthusiast since the age of 8, it was one of those days where few if anything could have gone better(ok sunshine and less traffic would have been good but thats nitpicking)

During the last 10 year this close friend of mine has been through various Ferrari, 430, 430 Challenge, 360, 355, 348, 599 and now the GTO is his latest.

Honestly during the whole hand over procedure its very easy for everyone to become a 10 year again, its that type of car, its extreme but there is a very special piece of Ferrari DNA in this car, that badge and everything it stands for, the history.

For me this is what a Ferrari is about, its not about electric seats, SAT NAV, electronic speedos and sound systems, yes those have their place but the GTO is in all probability the purest front engined V12 Ferrari has built since the 250 GTO.

Seeing 1 GTO is a rare site but having two around is just something else, as most of the central Cape Town found out....

These cars are unique as they have sequential chassis numbers.

Leaving the dealership well I wish I could describe the sound of both cars but sadly I cannot think of any word that could do this symphany of sound justice, the echo of the V12's. Its an amazing engine, the sound, the brute power and the fact it just sounds so organic, no fancy sound tuning and the Bssh on down changes accompanied by bops from the exhaust really sounds great but the the acceleration that truly boggles the mind, it flies. The gearbox is oustanding and both cars accelerating at the same time, well that to me is something every Ferrari fan should hear once in their lives. The gearbox is superb and in my opinion has a superior feel to that in the 458.

The racing seats are superbly comfortable and the whole car has a fantastic sense of occasion.

Sadly traffic prevented some decently fast driving but to have these cars down here on these great roads is really something amazing. People love the GTO, the spectacle alone I am sure was part of the reason for such heavy traffic!

In summary its hard to sum up this GTO apart from saying its simply astonishing, it give you a very unique and very special feeling when you are in it. In one sense its a look into the future but also a tribute to the past.

I attempted to take some vids, keeping the camera still was a bit of a challenge though....
Of course there are hundreds of pics...

Jacques, thank you very much for sharing this unique experience with us. I see you are addicted to the GTO. Welcome to the club. It is an amazing Ferrari and spending one day with two to play around ... what can a man ask more for?

Thanks for the pics and vids and congratulations to the fellow owners! May they enjoy their cars for many, many miles. I suppose these two cars are the latest members of Scuderia GTO?

Would it be possible to disclose these two chassisnumbers for us numberfreaks? I´d LOVE to add two South African GTOs to my database :)

    Best regards,

They are indeed identical, save for the fact one has a red dial and the other has a yellow dial, they also have sequencial chassis numbers....

Hoping to get some better outside pictures next week as well as go on a decent drive in one of them.

He bought one and his best friend bought the other one. Both went over to the factory to view the cars when they were completed. Both cars were specced at the same time.

Lars: Will have to ask first before I disclose the chassis numbers, would be great to compile a list of GTO chassis numbers.
