One good thing about Dubai

Yeah, so my bud calls me up, he's been rear-ended on Sheikh Zayed Road. The cops took so long to get there that his emergency flashers have drained the battery and he needs a jump start. By this time it's rush hour, so SZR is even more of a madhouse than usual. As we discuss the situation on the phone, he suggests pulling up alongside, which would leave me in a lane of traffic and insure that someone would rear-end ME while we were trying to work. A three-point turn is also out of the question, it's just asking to get hit. I know there is a better option but I wait until I get there and survey the scene as I approach, and decide that, yes the best option is my plan. Meanwhile a cop car has weaved his way through traffic and is just ahead. Seeing a broken-down car in a vulnerable spot, he does the natural cop thing and goes around him. Just at that point I execute my planned maneuver, a handbrake turn to rotate my car 180 degrees and place it just in front of my bud's car. Instant siren, and out jumps an irate cop. I step out, brandish the jumper cables, explain "I'm here for him," and proceed to ignore the cop and go about the business of hooking up the jumper cables. Cop shrugs, gets back in his car, and drives off.

Sometimes it's good to live in Dubai!
