Hi, Any ideas or hints on a problem where one headlight wont go up on a Testarossa? The headlamp itself comes on, just the headlight doesn't rise. The other headlight operates & rises correctly. I haven't gone through the electrical diagrams yet, but does each headlight motor have its own fuse and/or relay for example?
On my 1988 US version each motor has a relay ("E" for the R.H. motor, "F" for the L.H. motor), and one fuse (#4) marked "H.L. Motor Contact". Relay "D" also controls the "headlights motor contact". All three relays are the same, so I would start by swapping relays "E"" and "F" and see if the problem moves with the relays. Could also be poor/corroded contacts at several points. Replacement relays are readily available. Beyond electrical its a pretty simple mechanical system, with a linkage between the motor and light assembly. You could try manually lifting the light to ensure the linkage is connected. Or listen to the motor to see if it is spinning (gears stripped). This system is pretty reliable, so I suspect it's electrical. If you do isolate to a lifting motor there is a L.H. and R.H. used on USA eBay right now (slava81) Yours is a UK version imported? While lights/lighting did, I don't thing anything changed with the lifting motor circuitry for different markets so your configuration is likley same as mine. Let us know how you get along with this issue. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow - thanks for the great, detailed reply. Its great to know that it shouldn't be too major. Cheers, Gary.
Mine was simply the connecting rod between the headlight motor and the healight chassis. It has plastic eyelets that break. I found out that Fiat made the same connecting rod and used metal eyelets. I scored one at a junk yard for $5. It as an exact BETTER QUALITY replacement.
