Greetings all, So after a couple weeks of research and feedback from my fellow 'FerrariChat' members, I have decided on the following setup for my 2012 458. -Novitec Exhaust (no valves) -Novitec Cat Delete Pipes -Akrapovic Delete-R -BMC Air Filter My only hesitation is with the Cat Delete Pipes & Delete-R. Is there any harm that can be done to the car with this setup? As I had mentioned in my previous posts, I am looking for a loud system but do not want to go as far as changing out headers and ECU reprogram. Your feedback is appreciated! Regards, ZM
Hmmm, not sure I quite get your system, or maybe it's just me(not very experienced, just thinking out loud). Stock restrictive manifolds but no cats. Wouldn't a system of 200 cell cats and something like Fabspeed or Novitec headers make more sense?(Stock headers are said to be very restrictive and not very good in terms of performance) The headers will change the sound and add performance, but from what I've heard, not add much, if anything, in terms of db SPL.
The cat delete (not sure what Delete-R is) will not harm the car but will in 95% of cases give you a check engine light (CEL) so if you go with a catless setup or run high flow race cats on the car I would recommend getting an ECU tune that assesses CEL issues. Changing out the headers is no big deal, imho you might as well go for aftermarket performance headers now that you have done all the mods you mentioned. This will complete the system. I would also recommend going for the valved Novitec mufflers so as to have the versatility of quietening the system when you want (very handy for potential noise issues with the police or others: trust me ) or having it loud all the time. best
I think if I was doing the whole system: (highly subjective I know) - A 4-1 manifold for a cleaner sound (iPE or Novitec for example) with the Capristo blanket if possible to purchase separately - GMG Racing 200 cell race cats again with the Capristo heat blanket - Capristo back box with valves - Capristo exhaust valve remote - Ferrari Genuine titanium exhaust tips At the end of the day, it's whatever makes you happy so have a play around with it and I'm sure whichever parts you choose it ought to sound mega! Good luck!
