Ok, after catching my breath and taking a step back I am at peace with my deal. So I am going to look at the big picture. I purchased a very clean, very nice 355 spider. It has been well maintained. I love my car it is truly beautiful. The salesperson , Bob, patiently listened to my opinions and expressed their side in a rational manner. Through all of this they kept all of their other promises. So except for this misunderstanding and I am going to chalk it up to a simple misunderstanding I am very satisfied with both my purchase, with Bob and Ferrari of Tampa Bay. I feel that they responded to my concerns properly, they were respectful and courteous even after my complaints. I would like to thank Bob once again he has been a class act throughout the deal. So in the end things worked out and I will definately be back to Ferrari of Tampa Bay for my next purchase and service.

After seeing your posts, I am glad you came to the decision about 'being at peace' with your purchase decision. Because...I am 99 percent sure that you bought my F355 (if it is a red on black, 1995 model year.) I think you would want to know the following information: I bought the car out of the Orlando store, and had it brought over to Tampa. I knew there were issues with the car, but, I wanted a pre-OBD2 car. That means no pre-catalyzers in the headers (which melted and were sucked into the engine in 1996-on.) Or, they were blown out of the headers and wrecked the post-cats down-stream. Ferrari still races with the 1995 headers, and, the Pre-OBD2 Motronic 2.6 ECU. I would NEVER EVER buy any 355 except a 1995 because they likely had some pieces puked backwards or forwards at some point. After I bought the 355, I drove the car ONE day, and gave it back to them with my list, and let them keep it as long as they wanted. They did every single improvement I asked them to do, and at no complaint and no charge: new tires, brakes, new hydraulic pistions on the rear engine cover, pulled the seats out and had them re-finished to PERFECTION, installed new FabSpeed cats, front-end alignment, installed two new KN airfilters, re-routed the AC ducts, hand-sewed into the fabric top new material to reverse the aging/shrinking, fresh oil, brand new 1500 dollar exhaust valve system (that wasn't even broken...they did it as preventative maintenance)...in sum, they made the car PERFECT, and show quality. I was so happy with the dealership, I asked them to trade the car toward an F430 that a Ducati-associate just traded in for a new Scuderia. I took delivery of the 430, and drove it like an animal for about 2 weeks. Then, I missed the F355...a car that has its blood-lines in the 308/328/348 line. Because, after you jump to the 360 Modena, are clearly into the modern 430-look and feel. I walked by my F355, and thought 'man, this is the best vintage Ferrari money can buy.' I told Tommie Hassel...I'll take it back. Then, some guy walks into the dealership with a RAT F355 (torn roof, a turd) that he paid $60,000 for and needs $20,000 worth of work...he sees my car, and wants it...I told Tommie to give the car to another person, to gain a new customer. I'll wait for another Ferrari (with a shift-gate stick...I'm not sure I like the F-1 paddle shift video-game system...seriously.) The guy cannot get financed, so, he keeps his 355. Then, Bob tells me about ANOTHER prospective buyer, and I thought...do I buy my 'perfected' car back (and be selfish), or, let a GREAT dealership sell a car that both myself and the dealer made as perfect as can be expected from a 14 year old car (that has an insurance premium half of my 430, by the way.) Again...let the dealer have a new customer, especially in today's economic times.

Moral of the story? DUDE, YOU GOT MY CAR, AND IT'S THE BEST 355 OUT THERE. Because of my good nature and graces, you got this car. Please don't complain about the dealer (I used to be one)...appreciate what you do have, don't look at the little negative details...it's a near-vintage car. My friggin' 1996 Porsche (beauty that she is) leaks oil like a 1960 VW Bug (which she really is)...but, their numbers are dwindling. In fact, I think there are only 180 registered F355's in the country right now. You married Gina Lollabridgida, not some Asian woman off an internet dating website. That Italian woman is going to be on the bottom sometimes, and other times she'll be on top riding you. She'll delight you and piss you off at the same time. Go pick up Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance...one guy crossed the country on a gorgeous Triumph Bonneville that he had to fix on the side of the road, and the other guy a black-box BMW that never broke because he was scared to understand a motorcycle's internals. Don't be afraid of that *****...figure her out, and love her. Or, just go buy a new Nissan GTR with 480 HP...you'll dump that car in a year because ONLY A FERRARI CAN SCRATCH THAT ITCH.

Buying a Ferrari is just an emotional purchase for me, as for many people and i've been wanting another one for a long time. Took a step back and realized that I was getting too emotional over a small issue and realized I did have a great car. And I think it is stevetags as they explained all of the things he put into it. I just have the decency to set the record straight, and as I said they did take care of me very well and demonstrated good service by taking the time to explain everything to me.

180 could be the number of F355s that are for sale in the U.S. right now, but even that may be a low estimate!

Nice write up! Sounds like you really loved the car. I am glad this new Dealership is good as I am looking forward to doing business with them when we move back next year.

    LOL

smells like a libelous lawsuit threat to me.

Trashing authorized dealers on Fchat is serious business.
