One more smoking related problem

I spend a few hours sorting out various electrical but minor problems within my console on a 308 QV'84. Most of it was fun(thanks to F-chat). This could have all been prevented if the P.O. had not been a smoker! When I got the car , the lighter was in the depressed (ON) position, the clock wasn't working and there was a carbonized black wire inside the console which had heated so much that it melted the blue/red/green insulation of several other wires within the harness (15 wires per harness)...Obviously somebody activated the lighter (which should function with the car in the off position) left the car for a match or else and never looked back. The 16 amps fuse never gave up but the wire(ground) did. Because it is a sin to smoke in a F-car(except for the tires) most of these lighters get rusted or stuck and , I believe should be disabled. Just an opinion and a warning!
