Today I attended a great event in Phoenix, Arizona. It was a charity event to support a cancer center and a real gem before the hectic Arizona auction week.

Here is a list of the V.I.P. race car drivers in attendance -

    Billy Boat
    Arie Luyendyk
    Didier Theys
    Justin Bell
    Lyn St James
    Darren Law
    Bobby Rahal
    Dario Franchitti
    Denise McCluggage
    Desire Wilson
    Danica Patrick

Now, all but ONE (GUESS WHICH ONE!!!!) was there outside talking to the crowd (maybe 300 people), talking to media, arrived on time, and stayed past the required bare minimum.

To make matters worse, they were late (the P.A. system said ****** is stuck in traffic). Sunday 11:00 am? Are you serious? The race car driver did pose for some pictures - inside, behind closed doors, with people who took numbers 1 - 30 in advance. This race car driver hid in the house (pictured below) until their discussion panel was started and left via escort just afterwards to their Mercedes-Benz ML63.

Wow. Does this "celebrity" just fear people? Hate people? Hate their job? Hate public appearances? Hate all of the above?

My guess would be Danica Patrick. She is wearing a GoDaddy jacket, which isn't like the others, where they are dressed nicely. Unfortunately, she seems like she would have that kind of attitude.

I also cast a vote for Danica Patrick. Seems pretty robotic in all the interviews I've ever seen.

But what would she talk about? DP has the personality of a cardboard box. Pretty to look at, but that's about it.

Why would you want her( DP) as a rep to sponsor your products? She is received more bad press than goos over the last year or so.

LOL...I'm sure that’s working well for them...How many women buy anti freeze? How many men who see a women telling them to buy anti freeze in an ad actually buy that anti freeze?

And is it only me, or is it a little weird having her as a sex symbol? She reminds me of a angry jockey.

And frankly CW, many will disagree with me, but I don't even think she's all that pretty to look at. But that's just me. ;)

Beauty's in the eye of the beholder. But, she's better looking that most women racers, I suppose.

Yesterday afternoon I got a call from Denise. She said she loved my book and asked if I was free for lunch. "Yes! I'll be there in 10 minutes!".

Not that it took a 2 hour lunch with her, but yes, I agree!

Eh, she's my age and I've seen a lot better looking than her. For a race car driver, she looks good. ;)

You're a lucky guy! And it's her birthday today.

I met her at one of Brian Redman's events twenty-five years ago. She is as cool now as when was then. A pioneer and a bob vivant. Enjoy her company!

    Great article here: http://www.velocetoday.com/lifestyle/lifestyle_88.php

Denise is nothing short of an absolute jewel of a person in every manner and respect. I spent time with her at RA reuniting her with 0677GT TdF and strapping her in for a session.... Her giggling like a school girl while we were driving around the back roads of Elkhart Lake with her getting comfortable with the car again. Bob came back in with the GTO and wondered where the TdF was.... "We gave it away for someone else to drive..." I fully understand your statements Ron! To this day I cherish every moment of our time, her stories were Priceless!

My only time with Bobby was preping his SWB for the Colorado Grand and I dont remember laughing as hard as I did that day... funniest dry humor I had ever heard, gut splitting funny.

*Probably* more women than men buy anti-freeze. In the US there are more women car owners than men (52% to 48%). But almost certainly more men service their own car, or have older cars where anti-freeze actually has to be replaced (nowadays anti-freeze is "lifetime"). So for the sake of someone who would buy antifreeze to service the car yourself and select a brand, as opposed to just buying it at the jiffy lube, it's certainly more men that buy antifreeze at the auto parts store.

But I don't understand your surprise or your rhetorical argument. Obviously the ads are "sex sells". Hell, even the BJ auctions have some hot chic who obviously has nothing to do with anything about the auction. And they have recently (past few years) really highlighted Spanky's wife (sorry, can't recall her name) on TV.

I think it's you. :) I think it's great having her as a sex symbol.

Read the fine print as to what a 'lifetime' really is.
In most cases a 'lifetime' is seven years.
I won't go seven years with the same coolant, I'll go three, but not seven. same with tranny fluid, three years or 50k miles or so.

Oh - and most of mainstream america has no clue what any of these people are like in real life, such as Danica.
Her ship is 3-4 years from 'sailing'.

I live in Rockford which is about fifteen minutes away from Roscoe. A friend of mines brother went to high school with her and knew her pretty well. He's got pictures with her at parties and whatnot. I remember asking him why he never showed people or really told anyone why him and Danica were friends. He told me because she was one of the most stuck up and disrespectful people he had ever met. He told me it got to the point where he wouldn't even talk to her any more because of how rude she was to people and how much she thought of herself. Turns out she was also into getting with the guys. A lot of them

she was was given a post race interview today for finishing 17th and only 3 laps down!!!

she cannot drive a stick up her azz with both hands...she should therefore try to be a nice person as she won't win over fans on her driving merits alone. the least she could do. :)
