JUST SAW YOUR RULES, BUT DISAGREE WITH THIS ONE... "Commercial posts if you are not a sponsor." I HAVE BEEN SELLING THE BOSCH ALARM BATTERY FOR 355/360 OWNERS FOR ABOUT 2 YRS..IT COSTS THEM ABOUT 38.00 FOR THE BATTERY, INSTEAD OF THEM SPENDING 600-800 DOLLARS THAT THE DEALERS WANT TO CHARGE THEM FOR A NEW ALARM SYSTEM..A TOTAL RIP OFF I HAVE SOLD ABOUT 75 BATTERIES.... MY QUESTION IS.. SHOULD I STOP SELLING THEM AND SAVING ALL FCHAT MEMBERS MONEY, OR THERE IS AN EXCEPTION TO YOUR RULE?? I AM NOT EVEN GOING TO DISCUSS MY ALKALINE BATTERY SPECIALS FOR THE LAST 3 YRS OR SO... THANKS IN ADVANCE BRUCE
Sorry, I'm not Rob, but I'll toss in my two cents! I think if any FChat member (like Brother BRUCE) has a product that can save members a serious amount of money (as he has proven to do), they should be able to do so. I'm not sure if BRUCE is competing with any sponsors. If he is, this should prompt sponsors to sharpen their pencils! The big difference is that BRUCE'S offerings probably have zero profit for him.
In a way we are all sponsors of the site. I for one do not own a F-car that could use one of Bruce's batterries but I think it is a perk for the other members that can use them. And I see no problem with him selling here if it helps out the community. (We won't go into all of the other good deeds that the Godfather of F-chat does for this community and others in need)
i think there's a definite difference between paid sponsors and members who have something that can help the community... This is, after all, a Ferrari community and all members are encouraged to contribute, in one way or another... i can't remember the last time Bruce gave us his driving impressions of his 550, , but helping hundreds of members save hundreds of dollars on something Ferrari-related definitely seems like a noble member contribution to me... It's not like he's making any noticeable money off of those batteries - if any at all...!
I give away consulting advice in the B&I section that is worth about $300 an hour. I have also sold many temp guns to members.
Is there a particular reason why you chose to start a new thread for this? Would it not have been slightly more diplomatic to have pm'd Rob rather than putting him on the spot? I'm sure there are many ways of becoming a sponsor, but highlighting the fact to all the current sponsors that you have been abusing the rules for years, is surely not the smartest way of getting a deal! Some things are sometimes best left unsaid!
CLIVE IT WAS A SIMPLE QUESTION WITH NO NEGATIVE MEANINGS, A SIMPLE QUESTION.....ROB AND I HAVE BEEN FRIENDS FOR YEARS.. BUT THANKS FOR YOUR SCHOOL TEACHINGS OF BUSINESS AND SOCIAL BEHAVIOR IN THE PUBLIC WORLD.. BRUCE
ACTUALLY PAT, ROB AND I HAVE SPOKEN ABOUT IT MANY TIMES, AND ITS NOT WORTH IT FOR ME, DOLLAR WISE...I WOULD RATHER SELL PRODUCTS AT A VERY LOW PROFIT MARGIN TO HELP OUT FCHATTERS HERE... BRUCE
LOL, that's always a treat...! "Bruce, did you drive the car today...?" "Yeah, i took it out, popped wheelies, jerked it sideways and painted a big number seven on the side of the door..." ============================== "Andreanna, did you drive the car today...?" "Ooooh, you bet...! It was soooo good, too... i took it out and stretched its legs... There's just so much power there, it's endless... i feel like i'm connected to the steering and it shifts soooo smoothly, too... The acceleration is orgasmic... i took the long way home..." She always gives me a complete run down whenever she takes it out... Bruce just tells me, "When in doubt, charge sales tax"...
There is a clear and distinct difference between trying to sell items through F-Chat (at a profit) while avoiding becoming an actual sponsor and what Bruce is doing which is selling us products (that we all need and GREATLY appreciate) at cost or slightly above his costs. Maybe there should be a litmus test for potential sellers on here like Bruce, that they must provide proof to Rob that they are selling at a 10% profit margin or less and that it is something that 90+% of F-Chatters would use, appreciate and benefit from. At any rate, I think Bruce should be able to keep doing what he is doing.
Yeah Bruce: become a sponsor and sell us those batteries for $380 instead of $38. Still a 50% savings but you would actually start to make some money there. Hey and double the cost on those free batteries while you are at it! Careful when you offer those free batteries to Hurricane victims. Some users may think you are price gouging there. In Florida that is a fellony. Maybe you shoulod reduce the price from free to paying people to take them. Yep....business 101.
BRUCE, THIS SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A BIT SENSITIVE SUBJECT FOR YOU. I DON'T SEE A NEED EVEN TO DISCUSS IT, FRANKLY. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHAT YOU DO AND SOMEONE OUT FOR FINANCIAL GAIN ON FCHAT. THIS IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE A GRAY ISSUE, BUT IN YOUR CASE, IT SEEMS PRETTY CLEAR CUT. IN A SENSE, YOU ARE A SPONSOR BY WHAT YOU PROVIDE TO THE COMMUNITY.
"Commercial Posts if you are not a Sponsor" No Competing Sponsor to incur the wrath of. It's practically Charity.
Thanks Bruce for the heads up about this thread, I wasn't aware of it. Notice for others that if I don't respond to your call out in a thread, it isn't because I'm ignoring you, I just haven't seen it. This has been discussed several times before and with you specifically Bruce, but I will go over it again. From users like yourself that have been around and aren't just participating in the community for your own selfish reasons, then of course I don't have a problem with it. However, we do have a standard that non-sponsor offerings can only go in the Subscribed forums. If you truly aren't doing it to make a buck, then that should be OK with you as there will be less response and you are benefiting users that truly are giving back to FerrariChat.com (Subscribed, Moderators, Consultants, Sponsors, and Honorary). I would also appreciate a heads up before you do this and it should be limited to a frequency of less than a couple times a year. I think this is acceptable and a Win-Win for all. That's the way things should be. Also, sorry after several years you have yet to find my PM or email.
Also, the forum rules I've drawn attention to in the Announcement are the exact same rules we've had over a year now. Unfortunately, a few of you have just read them for the first time.
ROB, THIS WAS A THREAD TO JUST GET AN ANSWER FROM YOU AND JUSTIFY COMMERICAL OFFERINGS...AS SPONSORS OR NON-SPONSORS BELIEVE ME, WHEN IM DONE WITH SHIPPING SUPPLIES AND UPS SERVICE, MY PROFIT IS NILL..... GLAD YOUR OK WITH IT, AND GLAD TO SEE SO MANY NICE COMMENTS FROM OTHER CHAT MEMBERS.....IM THRU WITH THE BICKERING...SO I WAS AS PLACID AS CAN BE WITH THIS POST ANYONE FOR FREE BATTERIES HERE ?? THANKS ROB BRUCE
A few months ago, I proposed an FChat Garage Sale forum area. It was not accepted or acted upon. I think that would be a fun area! BRUCE could sell his batteries, I could sell my Temp Guns, glue and crystals along with other stuff that members can post for sale! (How about: Sanford, Lay and Son's!.............Staring: Darth550 as Lamont, BRUCE as Grady, Bridgett as Aunt Ester and John Lamour as Lamont's Spanish friend Julio who is always trying to get the girls!)
