So, I drive my 78 308 to work (i've actually been driving it a bit now since my daily car is out of action) and it's running great (about a 30 minute commute). As a matter of fact I had it out over the weekend for a 615 mile drive (in one day), and it ran awesome. Well, today, I drive to work, then I drive to the UPS to drop off some documents (ten minutes), and then I drive back to work and park it for about 3 hours before heading home. As soon as I start it up, I notice it's running pretty poorly. It's not missing or anything, just low on power and sounds like poop. Well, I drive home and park it and start pulling plugs. I had only 4 replacements in my shop so I only do the 4 rear plugs. Only plug number 1 looked like hell, all the others looked pretty good, nice light brown tips. Anyway, as soon as I start it up......back to awesome. I am going to change the other 4 tomorrow after work, but it's amazing how one fouled plug can cause the car to run like crap.

Yup, I had this happen a couple times after I would wash the car. I bought new boot covers for the spark plug holes and no more problems. I laugh at those too cheap to replace these 5 dollar items, and instead go through covering their engine with plastic garbage bags or something...and the occaisional guy that forgets, and makes a big melted mess on his engine..change them already, they're 25+ years old! lol ;-)

I changed them before last season, actually, more than once. The ones in there were no more than one year old. So, I think, before every driving season, new plugs.
