hello, there is a 2005 612 scagletti at an exotic dealership in southern california "sports car company" for $86,000 off m.s.r.p. miles are high (20K) but the car is one third off! ferrari has finally solved the 456 gt's depreciation dillema. build one that depreciates faster. i love ferrari to death. but i think they missed it with the 612. i sense a "m" version of the car soon. the local ferrari dealer in illinois has four 612's in stock. three which are new. that should speak volumes about the cars appeal. regards, joseph
Most of the 612s I see for sale are in the $240-$260 range. I've seen maybe one for $230K. This one must have some serious issues, which is another first for my eyes. Perhaps a wreck, which would make sense, especially if it's not an authorized pre-owned Ferrari. You need more information than one car to judge whether Ferrari has hit or missed with a particular car. Your personal feelings about the car's beauty are an entirely different matter. To look at the reviews, from the media and from owners, and from the pre-owned values, the car is a homerun for its type and class. Compare its resale values to Bentley CGTs, Aston DB9 coupes, and MB 600s. The 612 handles all of them in performance and resale, which it should considering it costs $100K more than the nearest competitor. Three 612s at a dealer doesn't say anything more than 3 owners have opted for another car. It could be another Ferrari, such as a 599, or they could have decided on a true four-seater. Look at Dupontregistry, Autotrader, and Ferrariusa if you want to see what the market is saying, not one dealership. Then look to see how many of its competitors are for sale and at what price. But in the end you'll never know if it's a hit or a miss until you drive it. Ask a few owners here at F-chat or search for 612 threads. I think you'll sing a different tune. Forza, Cavallini
hello, the three 612's (two black, one silverstone) are 2006 new cars untitled. so they haven't had any owners yet. that was my observation. when was the last time you walked into a ferrari dealer and they had three new ferrari's in their showroom? i don't hate the 612. i just think that pinnin farina has done better. that's all
Granted, in today's stratospheric Ferrari market it is unusual to see three untitled Ferraris on a showroom floor. That still doesn't form the conditions for an overall evaluation of the car's success or failure. Clearly, there are more Ferrari-looking Ferraris, past and present. I personally love the lines of the car but only in certain, light colors- Ingrio, Argento, Alloy, although Rubino is gorgeous on it. The darker and very bright colors don't flatter the lines as well, probably because the car is intentionally subtle. Within Fiat's own stable, however, the Maserati QP is stunning and decidedly more beautiful than the 612. But I have yet to hear anything but rave reviews of the car from people who have actually driven it. And while I'll be the first to admit I only plan to own car's that are visual works of art, the last time I checked, owners spend most of their time behind the wheel of a car, not on the outside looking in. Forza, Cavallini
Since you brought up the subject, I just checked the market at Ferrariusa.com. The prices range from $235-$295. There are three brand new 612s at the Las Vegas dealership with an asking price between $287,000 and $289,000. And there is a 2005 at Ferrari of Houston for $295. I believe that might be a typo. LOL. Forza, Cavallini
If I were rich, i would definately buy a 612 as my daily driver. A powerful V12, four seater, that doesnt attract to much attention and i love the design. I admit it could be better espescially the rear which is a little bland but I still like it better than the 456.
Local Ferrari dealership in SoCal also have new untitled 612 sitting in the showroom. IMO the price is too high for the package that you get. I think most people would think it's a better idea to buy a F360 & a Maserati Quattroporte (a true sedan) for less than a 612. The 612 simply doesn't look aggressive or flashy enough to justify the price tage. Sure it's a beautiful car with classic lines and stance, but the car loses a lot of luster when parked in the same dealership next to likes of F430, F360, 575 and the new 599GTB. Not to mention the backseats are acceptable, but by no means spaceous.
I happened to be at Gary Bobileff's in San Diego yesterday looking at a 550 they did a PPI for me on, and this exact car is sitting in the showroom. (Gary's holding some of Jim's cars for him while he's in Europe) Don't know if it has salvage title or not, but I doubt it. It looks pristine and the price is NOT a typo... $189K.
6sp on a 612 doesn't help either .... awesome interior, but I don't care for the red wheel/upper-dash....
IMO a 612 is something you buy when you don't feel it cash wise. The car's appeal was so-so from the start. Other F's are bought more on an emotional level. Prices reflect this.
20,000 miles is very high mileage for a 1-year old Ferrari. Most Ferraris take 10 years to accumulate that kind of mileage, if not longer.
When Jim Lyons at sports car company sells a car such as this it is usually from a dealer who took it in trade and is overstocked. Jim is very straight and will tell you truthfully what you want to know.
the right number for an 05 with LOW miles is just north of $200k. $189k for a 20k mile car sounds accurate, he probably owns it for $175k, its not necessarily a bad car.
not surprised if it drops like 60k-75k, it is exactly like the 456s in 95", although the 612 is a better car, a 456 is just the same in that time as a 612 in this time.
It took some time, but the car is finally being appreciated in Europe. The french dealer told me he was sold out for 07.
Hello back, Did you look at the color combo on that car? There's your reason why it's lower than the market.
612 is the flagship model. It is really beautiful IMO. I would be very happy to own one but it is tough to fit in a carpark in HK if you are out and about and use it for more than the weekend car. The new HGTC package is killer. The exhaust note is really amazing
Its better at Idle but then when the valves open in the Strad , its just orgasmic . Gotta have both i guess ..
