The title of this thread was quoted by Will Smith (who plays Chris Gardner) as he approached a stock broker just as he was stepping out of his stunning Ferrari 308GTS/GTSi in the movie released yesterday "The Pursuit of Happyness. We all know happ"y"ness is spelled with an "i" (happiness), not a "y", but was spelled with a "y" for the movie title.

The five-year old boy who plays Will Smith's son in the movie is really his son.

I happened to catch the real Chris Gardner on the Oprah Show (Thursday). He is now a successful owner of a multi-million dollar brokerage firm. While he now drives a Bentley, during his interview, he once owned a Ferrari (did not mention model) that was previously owned by Michael Jordan.

This movie documents Mr. Gardner's life from salesman, to his positive attitude and outlook in life (even though the results always seemed destined for failure), to his wife's negative role in never believing in him, to becoming homeless and sleeping in a subway bathroom, to applying for an internship at Dean Witter, and then ultimate success. This inspired by a true story movie is an inspiration to us all, and if you have children, I highly recommend you take them. Hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.

i saw an interview with this guy several years ago, had a clip of him driving off in either a TR or 512TR.. couldn't tell, shot was from the back and too long ago, remember it being the wide wide body of a TR type. What was striking was his license plate was something like "not mike" or something like that (as a reference to michael jordan)..

Been really looking forward to seeing this movie, and not just because of a momentary clip of an F-car in it! I really think this looks like a great role for Will Smith. I was very close to going to see it tonight but some friends came by.

    Cheers!

Hi QWKDTSND: There are many movies that can wait to be seen once out on DVD. This one I highly recommend the movie theatre. The best thing is, it's a true story and given what Mr. Gardner went through, is amazing he persevered. Definitely go.
