I have a Valentine 1 which of course went off - but not wanting to go in a four wheel spinning slide.... Ticket is for 87 in a 55, did I say oof! The trooper also wrote an affidavit about my speed. Never saw that before, any ideas what that was all about? I already have 6 points, can I get a lawyer recommendation please. Ticket was in the town of Stanford (on the Taconic). TIA. Yale

The Taconic is tough, when the laser goes off, you're cooked unless you have a "jammer" in which case you're only half cooked! Never heard of the affidavit. Check out Frank Sousa, don't know if he does the upstate thing, but he's been the magician out in LI

32 over is bad news and considered wreckless (though it doesn't sound like that was on the summons - or was it?) :( I guess you're lucky he didn't arrest you and impound your car, which 30+ over can earn you in these parts. Your best bet will be a lawyer who has relationships in that area. Only attny rec I have is a fellow named Casey Raskob, used extensively by my Ducati club http://www.speedlaw.net/ .

Good luck, and keep us posted. You're safest bet is to lawyer up, as I'm pretty sure this will take you over and bye bye license.

You already had 6 points; and you still continued to speed ? :( Recommendation: Get a bicycle.

You may want to take a state certified 'driver safety course' - which can remove 4 points from your license, as well as give you a bit of an insurance discount. I believe you can find a location near you on the DMV website. A good idea would be to take the course prior to your court date - it's a 6 hour long course which can be taken at once, or broken up into 2, 3 hour long sessions...

Thanks for everyone's help and great idea on the safety course, I better do that. Damn laser, just for your info trooper was on the right hand side in shadows at the top of a hill in Stanford section of Taconic, not in any of those pullouts where they often sit. Watch out. Best, Yale

According to my buddie who is a trooper out of K, "anything over 65mph on the TSP from stormville to Jackson corners they will most likely stop you". I live 10 minutes from the court house in stanfordville, let me know when your trail date is? You are very lucky they didn't arreast you..

As an atty who travels the TSP frequently and received a ticket there years ago I can tell you that you have received sound advice on this board. Take the course and get yourself a good local atty. 11 pts in 18 months and bye bye license. I avoid the TSP whenever possible for that reason.....
