On rather short notice, the Yonkers Sons of Italy (a charitable orgainzation) have joined foces with the Yonkers Rockin' Rods (a '50s restoration car club) and the City of Yonkers to stage the

    FIRST ANNUAL "Yonkers Concours Italiano"
A Charitable Exhibition of Italian Automobiles.

    Wednesday evening, AUGUST 2, 2006
6-10PM, rain or shine (indoor exhibit).
Murray Skating Center, Tuckahoe Road, Yonkers, NY.

This event piggy-backs on the weekly, Wednesday night '50s show put on by the Rockin' Rods, who usually bring 100+ 1950s era American cars to the exterior parking lot around the Yonkers Murray Skating Center. There's delicious food, 50s music, and hundreds of enthusiasts.

We're going to take over the INTERIOR of the skating rink (which has a bare concrete floor in the summer), which offers rain-or-shine protection and security. Although the Rockin' Rods show is free and draws a big crowd, our show will be by "suggested admission" of $10.

We will also offer limited sponsorships for a few hundred dollars, which includes posters and TV spots.

AND ALL OF YOU ARE HEREBY INVITED (do I have to beg? Okay, I'm begging!) TO SHOW OFF YOUR CARS!

Any Italian-made car of any vintage is welcome. Ferarris, Lambos, Masers, Fiats, Lancias, etc. Is that Bandini from the Greenwich 2004 still around?

Because we have so little time to pull this off, we are going to make this a very informal concours - that is, no judging, no prizes, no fees - just a first to register - first to show basis. Bring your car, socialize with other Italian car collectors, meet lots of admiring fans. Load in is between 4-5PM, 5-6 owner socializing, 6-10PM exhibition, load out 10-11PM.

We need from 30 to 60 cars for the indoor arena, and once it's full, that's it (well, maybe we'll squeeze a few more in).

All the proceeds will go to a charity.

How about it you public-spirited super car owners? Please email me with questions or interest. Please help me get this event off the ground!

Consultants on Rosso said I should keep bumping this up and that I should have faith that some of you will respond. I have faith, but if anyone has a suggestion to improve the deal or the event, I'm all ears (and eyes).
