what makes some people think they know how to work on cars? i guess with f cars it's worse, seeing how real mechanic's labor charges are what they are. i finally got around to changing my tranny fluid. i expected the fluid level to be low, leaks and such. removed the inspection plug and woosh; like a quart flew out all over the place and what came out looked thin like auto transmission oil. i suppose that explained the shifting difficulties. refilled with redline schockproof. man, that stuff is as thick as ketchup. gonna replace the brake fluid tomorrow. looking forward to see how the redline works for me.

It probably is the seal on the shift rod leaking oil from the engine into the tranny. Keep a eye on it to see if it starts to fill up again.

good to hear from you. spoke with dave, smith motorworks, said he saw you at a nice affair recently. i'm hoping it will be a while before i'll need to actually address this issue. perhaps summer, when it's too hot to drive. hope all is well and i'll be in touch.
