Which is a better car? More exotic? Would you rather drive? Any other cars in the same price range you'd also be interested in?

    Thanks.

I'd say Carrera GT. probably the best sounding exotic i can think of at the moment. its a little faster than the SLR, and probably handles a bit better. plus i think the looks of it are incredibly sexy.

other cars in that price range? hmmm, i think f40s are in there about, maybe f50s too. Pagani Zonda is in there. the new Saleen s7 twin turbo is a little bit above the range. theres a Koenigsegg thats about that.

I would take the CGT anyday of the week over an SLR.

The Carrera GT has more power, A v10 versus a V8, handles better, accelerates faster, and has a higher top speed.

No contest: Carrera GT hands down.

To me the SLR-McLaren is a very fast GT car, like a Mercedes CL, Bentley Conti GT, Ferrari 575M / 599 - it is not a super exotic.

CGT. The SLR is nice, but nowhere near worth the price IMO.

    CGT anyday.

    Better sounding, faster, manuel transmission.

I always viewed the SLR as a car for someone who has alot of money, has owned a few 'decent' sports cars, but many more luxury cars. And this car seems to fit his bill more.

Someone who enjoys cars, but isnt an enthusiast. He probably wouldn't be able to tell you the exact hp/torque, who McLaren are etc, you know, just those specifics about a car that the guy who buys a Challenge Stradale would probably know.

I'm completely stereotyping here, dont mean to offend any SLR owners. Buy what you like!

The Porsche is the clear winner, the SLR is almost a white elephant in the enthusiasts world.

Mind if I ask why? Not trying to be rude, but I think we've seen the typical reason for the CGT (faster, more racy, sound, race car for the road etc). Just wondering why some like the SLR more.

I think they are apples and oranges. The SLR is more the ultimate GT car. Auto tranny, engine in front of you, benz luxuries. It's like a super fast longer version of their SL models.

The CGT is more the exotic supercar.

Depends if you want a racy car for the road, or a very fast luxury GT.

I haven't tried any of them, but the CGT is more in my spirit.
Usually, the SLRs are driven by guys with heavy necklaces etc., and they wear huge sunglasses even at night with fog.
Also, the SLR looks like an uncertain pig. Just hate the look.

The CGT is cool, looks nice, and is probably much more fun to drive.

Carrera GT is the more "track" orientated car if you will. Its an extreme car, and sounds like nothing else I have heard. But, if I needed an everyday car and had unlimited money. SLR is where im at. other than that C-gt is the car.

I have seen both on the track, ridden with Hurley Haywood in the CGT, and know of someone who has both cars.

From my experiences and limited knowledge I would agree that there are virtues to owning both cars. The SLR has much more presence than the CGT and is the quintessential CRUISER. However, the CGT was much more graceful on track, sounded like it came straight out of hell (compared to the SLR which sounds like a truck) and from what I am to understand is much more comfortable to drive.

CGT all the way!!!!! = The best modern supercar

As much as I love the SLR, and I do love the SLR, I just can't see spending that much money on a car when you can get the same engine in a cheaper car. While it may be tuned more, it is still (to my understanding) the same 5.5L Supercharged V8 that is available in the E55. That, to me, is what diminishes the essence of the Ford GT. That is the long answer. If I were in the league of such vehicles, out of those two I would definitely go with the Porsche. With a broader spectrum to choose from, I would go for the Murcielago or wait for the 599.
