    Hello,

I have a friend who's looking to purchase his first Ferrari and this one checks a number of boxes. It started life here in Philadelphia. I'm trying to give him the best advice possible. Do any of you have any insight/wisdom on this vehicle. It's jumped around a little bit the past 10 years.

He looking for fun weekend vehicle and isn't deterred by it not being 100% stock/perfect, or possible maintenance. Have any of you used a PPI service that is located in northern NJ, you'd recommend?

Thanks for any insight the community can provide.

Thank you for the referral! This place was amazing. Sensory overload. I'm still processing everything that they had there.

If he passes on this one, and ever ends up closer to MD, I have done a few "inspections" for people for free. For me it's a few hours of entertainment. You/he really need to define what you want in a PPI. It will mean something different for every person, dealer and shop. Just visually looking over the car(int/ext) and going over the paperwork is 2hrs(unless paperwork is missing). Compression test realistically adds another 1-2hrs. Every Ferrari has their specific weaknesses, so the inspection needs to be adjusted per car. For a 360, make sure you check coolant for signs of the trans/coolant heat exchanger failing, headers, under dash heater core. If you/he don't work on it yourself these repairs can be unpleasantly expensive. Downside is you can easily pay $1500 PPI for a car you end up not buying:(

I know nothing about this dealer, but my preference for any used car purchase goes in this order: long-term private owner, short-term private owner(see comment below), dealer. The dealer is unlikely to know the history of the car, and a "salesman" is not who you want to be buying a car from. Ferrari made a lot of 360's so if he doesn't like this one, I'm sure there is another for sale close by. It's become much more of a buyers market in the last year.

Most people who bought cars late 2020-mid 2023 can't sell for what they bought for. This is definitely true for the 360. Some are well aware of this and want to sell anyway. Avoid wasting your time with the ones that can't or won't accept that.

I saw that one and yes, it does look interesting. The major concern I have is the lack of service records for the past few years. I suspect they dumped it when it was time for all the major service items.

And you are correct. For a driver it could possibly be a good car, but not at that price. It's rough. The sound system has been hacked up, wires exposed everywhere, signs of neglect, ppf is in bad shape, strange oxidation in the engine compartment and to top it off brakes/rotors/ and likely the clutch are at the end of the line. For 60K and some TLC it could be a great car if you can turn a wrench. They were nice at the dealership, but I think they're stuck in softening market.

Thanks for your input. I did have the feeling they bought it when the market was hotter and now they need to be bailed out.

Your comment just saved me a long drive to go see it. and yes, I know this is just your opinion but your comments do line up with my expectation.

    Thanks!
