Also, I seem to have found the same car for sale in Los Angeles (at $10k) or perhaps someone else just grabbed the eBay photo. But she is kind of pretty & looks to be getting a lot of interest.
That's after you"win" that auction......technically at that point you are on the hook for the full amount. You've seen the other GT4 Thread we have here? There's some links in there, along with the trashed one missing the engine.
Not if the buyer has been deceptive in his listing. If he has been, then you let eBay know & you are off the hook. Most sellers only ask for a $500 deposit, or no deposit & full payment by 7 days. There is no honest reason for wanting $2,000 right away for a sight unseen vehicle. Is this a rare model or something? I can't believe the number of bids already. Seems like a friend is playing games?
Not rare in production numbers, but good ones are getting scarce, I did notice the same thing, a gazillion bids to get to $16K!!!! That car looks nasty even in the fuzzy pics, non original seats in poor condition.. Certainly there's a better one out there.
Which backs up the $10k price I saw on the same car, on a different site (easy to spot with those rims + missing side markers). It's almost as if he bought it & is trying to flip it. I can't help thinking that, especially since there is a lack of service records, lack of photos/knowledge of the car yet a huge # of bids.
It's a fixer upper for sure. I'd never buy a Ferrari without looking at it up close. Pictures always seem to make a car look better than it really is.
Rust bubbles? Bad interior? Non series one? $25K? This guy is dreaming. At this price the car should not remotely peak your interest. Much better cars out there in the same price range. Be patient.
Miles are extremely low and I am not even sure if the car is still available. - http://globalautosports.com/car/1983-Ferrari-308GTS-Convertible-18176.html
I know none you want to hear this but a good GT4 is still worth 35K and a much better Ferrari than many other models, just ask anyone who has owned one. A neglected Ferrari is a bad buy no matter what the model unless you like wasting money or enjoy punishment unless you are looking for a real project......
disagree. i sold a euro GTB QV for 30k, and it took awhile. none of us on here who have had several of these cars are going to fork out much over 20k for a gt4. i can see your point with a super clean series one car, and an early car that may be emission exempt would be valuable in a California market perhaps. but the rest of us that can have euro cars, and have no emissions on cars that are so old , have a much broader base to buy from. for $35k cash i can get a hell of alot more car than a 308gt4 in this economy. i am still seeing the same nosebleed gt4s in the driveways of their owners that were for sale last summer, and i have had 4 cars since then. i will get a gt4, or another 308 something when my 911 targa sells, but i bet ya i wont be paying $35k for my next one.
I am not too familiar with this model, but I do prefer the looks of the smaller bumpers and the lack of the side markers. Characteristics of a "euro" model? I could care less about rarity, and I don't have to worry about smog or safety inspections (the way it should be!). As for pricing, all F cars are way down... it's that "change" that people wanted I guess.
the euro GT4 has the flatter bumper. However, this rear bumper is obviously a conversion, and a poor one at that.
+1 with what Reaper says. I like the GT4, but the one the OP is asking about is a joke. No one should pay more than $15k for that thing, and that is if you want a fixer-upper - and by the time you do so you will have sunk a TON of money into it that you will never see again. The other poster who listed the 83QV Euro...that is a very nice car, but $50k + is a LOT of money for a 308 these days. I know it is a class winner, etc. but I doubt if the OP is looking at cars in the $20k range he has $50k+ to spend, and if he does he can open his search to 328's, 348's and 355's if he is interested. To the OP - be P A T I E N T, you will find a nice driver out there that you can make better like I am doing in the high 20's low 30's that will make you very happy, and less than that if you really want a GT4. Good cars sell for less than they are worth, bad ones sell for more than they are worth. A good 308 is getting close to being worth serious money in the future. Not quite yet but soon. Plenty of good deals still around so now is the time to buy.
I agree with Robert! I don't think you'll get much of a GT4 for 20K or under, 25K-35K is more like it. If you can good for you, but I doubt it. IMOP. Cheers!
of course when I say good car I mean 2 sets of wheels , all tools and books, all manuals, paint chips, leather swatches, carpet samples, all factory brochures, FIA Homologation papers (original), heritage certificate, all magazine articles, working aerial, and 2000$ worth of new hoses! Of course you will have to wait for my impending estate sale!! HA!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
See? That's the one you want, a well loved example......Robert is in excellent health though, so you'll have to find another one....
Top GT4's are racing up in the UK with dealers suddenly advertising at £25-£28k Sterling for immaculate low mileage examples.
I wish I was kidding but I have a pre existing healthcare issue with my heart, not trying to turn this into a political conversation but I have anthem blue cross and my premiums just went up 39%. If I lose my job, I will lose my insurance so maybe my car will be available sooner than later. You all know if I have to chose between my health insurance or parts for my car which comes first..... I would rather die with a Ferrari in the garage then to live without one. Now thats an enthusiast!!!!
I was hoping to get another 348, but with my financial situation a well used 308 makes more sense (as does the ability to change belts through the wheel well instead of relying on a mechanic at $9k a pop). For some reason the GT4 has really grown on me lately. It reminds me of my first car from some angles - an X1/9, and of the Jalpa. I love this style.
