given where it was located, I'd check carefully for rust. IIRC that could be a problem on 964s

it's a tiptronic; not sure I'd choose that on a 964. they were pretty sluggish back then.

also those BBS wheels look awful but easy fix (and beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess).

per the carfax/autocheck deal the mileage seems to check out, but do your due diligence there. car looks to be in solid shape from what we can see.

The car looks nice, but I'd still spend the money to get a PPI on it.

I agree about the BBS wheels as they don't look that good on the car. The Tiptronic trans is very dd friendly, but there is a switch that actuates the tip shifting that is very hard to get. A friend's shop had a 91 Tip in for repair and he had a very hard time getting that part and it was relatively expensive at $1k or so.

rust on a 91 car? didn't expect that. $1k fix for a switch? wow. I guess the search for a nice DD 911 G50 continues. I wanted a manual tranny anyways. Thanks folks.

rust on a porsche galvanized body is not my primary concern. the tiptronic is. i dont see the tip ever being a good idea on a 911...but that may just be me. they render the cars nearly unsellable.

Having quite a bit of experience with the Porsche Brand, I would recommend looking for one with a good G50 gearbox instead. The tips are no fun at all when you need to have them worked on.

Pricing seems okay here on this but I think that you can do better.

    Just my .02

What he said. The power (and enjoyment) loss with a tiptronic is considerable.

Also the wheels on the eBay car are tragic, IMHO.

definitely not the enthusiast's choice but I think the tippy actually enhances resale value, particularly on cabriolets, particularly in the sun belt.

lots of people want the style of a Porsche cab for cruising around town without that confusing third pedal

not my idea of a good Porsche. The fact the engine came apart with only 65k miles worries me as well

If I were you, I'd look for a nice 993. The 964 is a nice car, but the ac still was not the best. Sure you can mod it to cope with Texas heat, but IMHO the 993 is a much better car. I had a 964 turbo and preferred my 930 as the 964 steering felt heavy and artificial.

91 C2s were prone to oil seepage at the cylinder heads. they had no gasket between head and cylinder. The Porsche fix was to machine in a gasket. If it was done, ok. Look up under the car at the cylinder heads. If you see dark brown and wet seepage,be prepared to pay for the fix or walk away. I had a C2. traded for a 993. Both nice cars,The C2 was a little more raw(and much looser in the tail)-ask me how I know!
