It has lots of things non original: steering wheel, wheels, pedals, gear knob, red bottom-end, GTB badge in the tail, prancing horses random everywhere, ... According to my personal taste, I would keep away.

If being very picky, the spark plug leads are all askew. If maintained at a detailed shop I'd have expected them to be more organized. I noticed the extra paint work. If you like the way the car looks it's worth checking out. It's all about the maintenance it's received and how much it will need.

The 348 wheel upgrade may not be original but it is a big improvement over the TRX offering better looks improved handling & cheaper tires

The new steering wheel is an original Ferrari style Momo so little wrong there either

    Generally looks clean

Not bad for the right price - I've seen worse.

Thanks for the replies. The "non standard" parts would not trouble me really. The 348 wheels are a definite plus. It says the originals are available too.

Curious as to what the "extra paint work" refers to?

Perhaps I should have clarified that I (or rather my wife) would rather I did not spend any more than this kind of money, so I am looking at examples in the lower to middle of the 3.2's price range.

It has t front seats, I bought mine from dealer, well know, 8 grand later I had the car I wanted, buy the best you can, check the paint work out, make sure it is all the same shade of rosso corsa.

Below the bumpers and below the doors is often a textured black paint. For example, on the back on my car the area on each side of the grill by exhaust is black texture paint. I thought I saw something else but I think I'm wrong. I do feel like the car has had a repaint. I saw a screw in one side grill that was red. Check carefully for repairs and if so check that they were done well.

If its straight & doesn't need major bodywork/paintwork then, with the upgrades on it, I would say that was a cheap car at first glance.

So much so, there must be something wrong with it - if it was a bit closer I might even go & have a look at it!

Steering wheel is on the wrong side but other than that... ;)

It looks clean, I don't get the use of the Ferrari shields everywhere. But as everyone says... Go see it, check it out closely. Look at its history, that will tell you most of what you need to know.

Steering does not bother me but the stickers freak me out. I would look for service history and a PPI. Remember time after time: you buy the best example you can buy and start from there because its not over. You will always need somthing on these great classics. Good luck!

The asking price is avg, not really a bargain but worth a look if you are near by.
(15,995pounds = $25,923 dollars). The 88 coupe would be the nicest 3.2 to get as the last production year of the no engine-out service cars. The Ferrari stickers are not a big deal, 2 mins to clean and take off. I would put back an original steering wheel and get some oem rims back on. The extra Cavallino badges in the rear can be corrected along with the GTB that belongs on a 308, not Mondial. Dress up the engine bay abit, seems to be missing sparkplug wire clips. Like PV mentioned, the front lower spoiler was painted red along with the lower sides and rear spoiler. NOt a clean car, but not as bad as most sees it IMO. Most importantly, get some history, get a PPI, last service, when, what works vs does not, and what needs to be fixed and how much will it cost before you fully know what you're in for.

    Best,

    Hi,
The price is very good as I have not seen a UK 3.2 as low as that for a while. In fact there are no 3.2 coupes for sale from what I have searched except for one but price on application on Piston Heads. There are a couple of 3.2 cabs going for around £26-£30,000. Otherwise most are the early 8 or 3.0qv. There are loads of 3.4T available too. It seems that by comparison the UK prices are higher than in the US and would be worth looking into.
As mentioned by other members here, try and go for the best you can afford as they really do need looking after and make sure its been maintained properly and check the history for cam belt changes and ensure the brakes and running gear and electrics are all ok. The sunroofs suffer!
The steering wheel and pedals can be changed back easily as well as removing the stickers carefully. The 348 wheels are the best thing you can do so its already there (changed mine a few moths ago and looks and handles much better).
My worry here is to thoroughly check the bodywork and also put on a ramp and get a specialist to take a look underneath. The reason is because the entire lower part should be matt black, not red. Has it had accident damage maybe, but why the change and the seats are from a later 3.4T model?
Let us know how you get along and from what i can see the prices are on the up!

I enquired about the red 3.2 coupe on PistonHeads.co.uk and is described as totally mint with only 11,000 miles. Price is a shocking £35,000, at approximately 1.58 to the dollar it's about $55,000 USD.
    That's 348 territory if not 355.
    Very interesting!

Many thanks for all the replies and advice. I have come to the conclusion that I really need to get my new garage built first before contemplating a Mondial. Our car port is just too open and the cars get covered with dust for most of the year. In the winter the rain can blow in too. Other hazards include our 2 cats and lizard poo.
Hopefully towards the middle of next year I can start looking again, with fully completed man cave.
I was quite surprised to see that the earlier mentioned 3.2 has not sold yet. Not the best time of year to sell, I suppose. It did look pretty good in the pictures and as mentioned, quite keenly priced too.
I have lived in southern Spain for 12 years and never ever seen a Mondial, so it would be a rare car on the roads round these parts. I would plan on doing much of the servicing myself, but hopefully I can find someone in the area for the belts etc.
There are only 7 or 8 Mondials for sale in Spain just now. All appear way over priced and way under cared for - hence looking to the UK (amongst other places) for a car.

My head says buy a M5, but deep down I'd rather have a Mondial - perhaps this very original looking QV would be a better bet? Prices seem to be all over the place, ranging from under 10 grand to 24500 for a QV.
