Hi guys: I have until Monday to finalize my configuration. Below is my config so far. I'm struggling with 3 things. My car will be Giallo with Black interior. I plan to wrap the roof in black when I get her. So here are my 3 things I'd like your opinion on: - Carbon engine bay? Is it worth it? - Yellow stripe down the center of my seats. Love the way it looks. Is it too much? - Suspension lifter. I've confirmed that the 488 can't be lowered on its stock springs if you order the lifter. It can be lower by your dealer without any hardware if you don't have the lifter. I'm really torn on this one. Thanks for your thoughts. Feel free to share your opinions on my build. Arnie , I think the yellow stripe on the seats is gorgeous. As far as the lifter , I've only used mine when someone asks "hey what's that button for "? . Sounds like a beautiful build. Congrats bro !
Stripe, yes. On previous models the engine bay panels yellowed, no. In the 3 years I had my 458 I never needed the lifter. No.
There is the biggest window to see the engine and its bay. The heart of the car. How can anyone like plastic-fantastic behind the window of the most important thing. And furthermore the engine seems smaller coz of the turbo. So its just more important to work out the new characteristics of the new engine... but sure i wouldnt recommend it on a 20k car. So most people will let their financial status decide-and this is rly ok.
I would order this car with every option you can, or want....not only is it a small pecentage of what your paying...it's cool and makes your car unique....JMHO...
Congrats Arnie Yellow stripe yes - carbon engine skip - Sus lifter only you can decide whether that is essential for the places you visit. I lowered my Ferrari once and vowed never to do it again
Sounds great. I would skip the Lifter/lights, mirrors and hifi. I would pick CF sport seats over the electric Daytonas especially since you are doing so much other carbon. Of the two styles I prefer the gold rake style and would totally do the yellow stripe.
If I could only have one option on my car it would be the lifter. My 458 needs the lifter to avoid scraping on my driveways. It's almost $5K but if you need it and don't have it you will have to hear and feel the nose of the car grinding on concrete if you guess wrong.
YES on the seat stripe. Yes on the carbon fiber engine bay - with the small engine that isn't as impressive as the 458, seeing some CF should help the wow factor. Yes on the lift - that $5,000 will pay for itself when you never have to worry about scraping the front end. If you got the $, spend it on the Ferrari. As the saying goes, "I've spent my money on women, wine, and cars... and the rest I've just wasted".
Absolutely 100% get the lifter. Everyone of these low slung cars should have it put in standard by the manufacturer. Yellow stripe yes, carbon option is personal taste.
Hey Arnie, Congratulations on getting to spec your car out. This is such a personal choice as everyone will have their own ideas. Personally, I would go with the gold rake racing seats and skip the carbon fiber in the engine compartment since you'll be looking mostly at all the CF inside the car. And if you had to use the lifter a lot on your 458 , or scraped a lot , then perhaps you need to get the lifter. I guess you have to weigh whether having your car lowered is more important than scraping your front end. Congrats again!
Congrats Arnie, I would go with manual racing Daytona racing sets, manual controls makes getting in n out of the car much easier. Skip the Yellow stripe, instead yellow seat belts, and tick yellow stitching and yellow horse stitching on the headrest. Not sure how you specked your tachometer go with yellow as well. Floor mats simple black. instead of parking sensors, all around camera, I have it on my F12 pulling into parking spots makes life easier. Hold off on the carbon engine compartment dressing, maybe add carbon front spoiler n rear diffuser, since the roof's going to be wrapped black, use the same treatment on under door cover. As for the lift, I don't have it on my speciale, I get by without it just fine.
Yes on seat stripe. And do it on racing seat. Best looking by far. Lifter no. Never needed. My tesla on high lift scrapes more than my Speciale. Forget the engine carbon.
Great build! I like the seat stripe. I would skip the carbon engine. I would get the lifter. I would also think twice about getting the sport sill. The grey colour will strangely draw your eye and it may give the car the appearance of sitting "higher" since it is a similar colour to the road.
Yes to lifter: you'll forget you have it, but when you need it, the relief will be worth the cost x 10. Yes to carbon: the engine's not a pretty as the Speciale's but it's still a special engine and being on show the carbon conisderable adds to the joy. Definitely no to yellow calipers: yellow overload; go Nero Lucido. Will complement your interior nicely and your wrap too. Congrats.
If you want a black roof, then get the black roof option from the factory. Scuderia Ferrari Shields on Fenders LOGO - yes Brake Calipers in Giallo Modena CALY - yes 20" Diamond-cut Forged Wheels RSFD - yes Sport Sill Cover PEXS - no Carbon Fiber Engine Compartment CEL2 - no Sport Exhaust Pipes EXA3 - no INTERIOR AND MATERIALS Color upon request for upper part of passenger compartment ULEZ - yes Floor Mats with Embroidered Logo FLMA - I'd get the cheapest mats Carbon Fiber Driver Zone + LEDs CIDL - no, the steering wheel feels better in all leather Carbon fiber dashboard inserts DATR - no Carbon Fiber Tunnel Bridge CILR - no Carbon Fiber Outer Sill Kick CISK - no Full Electric Seats RSFE - get racing seats, as they are more comfortable Embroidered Prancing Horse on Headrest EMPH - not worth the money Daytona Style Seats DAYT - no Color Upon Request for Special Contrast Stitching STC2 - nice, but don't get it on dash unless you like seeing it reflected on your windshield EQUIPMENT AND TRAVELING Front and Rear Parking Sensors PAR2 - no Rear Parking Camera PAC1 - ok and may be helpful Inner and Outer Electrochromatic Mirrors + HomeLink MIH2 - no Premium Hi Fi sound sysemt SNDH - not worth it Adaptive Front Light System AFS1 - comes with lifter Front Suspension Lifter ELEV - yes I would add cruise control because I like road trips. If you never take the car out of the city then skip it.
I went after market for the carbon engine bay on my 458, love it and saved quite a bit. Given the small size of the engine and the very large engine covers in the 488, I think the carbon engine bay is worth it. If you decide against the Ferrari OE carbon fiber, I'm assuming there are already after market options. You could spend quite a bit less and, if you don't like them, you'll always have the original engine covers.
Arnie, go with all these carbon options, imo a must have, for me a buying decision in reselling. Your car will become beautiful!
Question. Have you actually specced the calipers in Giallo Modena to match the car, or just the regular Giallo calipers some refer to as Giallo Modena? If the latter, you should be aware that they are a very different shade of yellow than the car itself. I personally think these two different shades of yellow clash quite a bit. Yes to the stripe and carbon engine panels. No to the matte black sport sill covers. I prefer body colour and think the matte black looks like cheap plastic. Lifter is a good thing to have when needed - and it will not have an impact on performance you'll notice unless you're Schumacher.
Get the lifter, don't mess with the springs. I would think twice about a roof wrap, the 488GTB looks so great in full yellow, I would not break it up, just let it flow, it is awesome. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
